PrepareTheVacuumPump:

ConnectTheVacuumPump: Connect the hose from the vacuum pump to the lowpressure service port on the air conditioner. The low-pressure port is typically marked with a blue cap and is located on the larger of the two refrigerant lines.
OpenTheValves: Open both the high and low-side valves on the manifold gauge set. Thiswillallowthevacuumpumpto drawairoutofthesystem.
Turnonthevacuumpump: Turnonthevacuumpumpand monitorthevacuumgauge.The
gaugeshouldreadbetween500
and800micronsofvacuum.Ifthe gaugereadshigherthan800 microns,theremaybealeakinthe system.
Runthevacuumpump: Allow the vacuum pump to run for at least 30 minutes to ensure that all air and moisture has beenremovedfromthesystem.If thevacuumgaugedoesnothold steady after 30 minutes, there maybealeakinthesystem.
Closethevalves:
After the vacuum pump has run for the appropriate amount of time, close the high and low-side valvesonthemanifoldgaugeset.
Turnoffthevacuumpump: Turn off the vacuum pump and disconnectthehosefromthelowpressureserviceport.
Checkthevacuumlevel:
Checkthevacuumgaugeagain
to ensure that it is holding steady at between 500 and 800 microns. If the vacuum level is not steady, there may be a leak in the system that needs to be repaired.
