for taking the

best photos in Okoboji

As an avid angler myself, and having had the privilege of interviewing and photographing several area fishing guides, I’ve picked up a few tips over the years, as well as learned through trial and error, some of the best ways to capture a great fish photo.

KNOW YOUR EQUIPMENT I could dedicate quite a bit of space to the technical aspects of taking a photo, but I’m going to keep it simple: know your equipment. Whether you’re using a smart phone or a professional DSLR, knowing your camera’s capabilities and limitations ahead of time will allow you to spend less time fiddling with settings, give you the ability get a quick quality photo and get back to fishing. As silly as it may sound, practice at home, see what works and what doesn’t, so you don’t have to think about that aspect when you’re on the water.
