Admissions Admissions
At the University of Wyoming, we are committed to offering graduate students a personalized and enriching academic experience that supports both intellectual growth and professional success. Our graduate programs are designed to help you make the most of your education while working closely with faculty, advisors, and your academic department.
As you begin your application journey, we encourage you to connect directly with your intended academic department. They can provide program-specific guidance on admission requirements, deadlines, and supplemental materials before you submit your formal University of Wyoming graduate application.
All applicants must complete the UW graduate application and submit a nonrefundable application fee. Official transcripts from each previously attended college or university must be sent directly to the UW Admissions Office.
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution and are expected to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Some programs may also require standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, or additional materials as part of the admission review.

Graduate students may be eligible for assistantships that can significantly reduce the cost of tuition and mandatory fees. Most assistantships also include student health insurance and provide a stipend to help support living expenses.

The standard graduate assistantship provides payment of a stipend to the student payable in installments over the academic year (September through May).
Please note, the figures listed are based on the estimated set minimum amounts for one academic year. Individual programs may offer a higher stipend amount if additional funding resources are available.
Assistantships are available across many disciplines and offer a range of professional experiences. Teachingrelated roles may include serving as an instructor, reader, laboratory assistant, or supporting other instructional activities. Research assistantships focus on contributing to faculty-led projects, and some positions are funded through external organizations for specific research initiatives.
While tuition and fee reductions typically cover all or a portion of tuition costs, incidental student fees are generally the student’s responsibility.
In addition to assistantships, graduate students may also apply for a variety of fellowships. Students interested in funding opportunities are encouraged to speak with their academic advisor to learn more about assistantships, fellowships, and other forms of financial support available in their program.
