In the kingdom of Arendelle, the townspeople and royal family celebrate the joy of summer. When Young Anna encourages her sister to use her magical ice powers, their fun quickly turns dangerous, and Elsa accidentally injures Anna. To save her, the King and Queen seek help from the mystical Hidden Folk, who heal Anna but erase her memory of Elsa’s magic. Fearing her powers, Elsa withdraws from Anna and the castle gates are closed.

As years pass, the sisters grow up apart. Elsa struggles to control her abilities, and Anna longs to reconnect. When their parents are lost at sea, Elsa is next in line for the throne. On coronation day, the castle opens to the public. Anna, thrilled by the excitement, meets and quickly falls in love with Prince Hans. She asks Elsa to bless their sudden engagement, but Elsa refuses, accidentally revealing her powers and plunging Arendelle into eternal winter. Elsa flees to the mountains, where she embraces her abilities and builds an ice palace.

Anna sets off to find Elsa, joined by Kristoff, an ice harvester, his loyal reindeer Sven, and a magical snowman named Olaf. Along the way, they meet Oaken and his family, who offer warmth and winter gear. Eventually, the group finds Elsa, but when Anna tells her about the kingdom’s deep freeze, Elsa panics and accidentally strikes Anna with her magic again.

Searching for a cure, the group visits the Hidden Folk, who reveal that only an act of true love can save Anna. They return to Arendelle hoping Hans can help, but he reveals his plan to take the throne and leaves Anna to die. Olaf rescues her and helps her find Kristoff. Meanwhile, Hans captures Elsa, but when Anna sees Hans about to kill her sister, she sacrifices herself to save Elsa, freezing solid in the process.

This selfless act of sisterly love thaws Anna’s frozen heart, and Elsa realises that love is the key to controlling her powers. With winter lifted and harmony restored, Hans is sent away, and the kingdom rejoices. United once more, Elsa and Anna vow to lead with love and light, embracing who they truly are.

Directors’ Note

Welcome to our production of Frozen Jr!

While we may not have towering sets or elaborate backdrops, we believe the heart of theatre lies in the performance itself. We hope the students’ storytelling, acting, and music will spark your imagination and bring the world of Arendelle to life in a vivid, personal way.

More than half of this cast is performing in a musical for the very first time. They’re laying the foundation of their musical theatre journey, learning what it means to work independently, think from different character perspectives, stay aware of the audience experience, and show up with responsibility and commitment to the ensemble. They’ve also begun learning the language and culture of theatre. Skills that will serve them well in future productions.

This growth wouldn’t have been possible without the encouragement and behind-thescenes help from families. Your support was felt and appreciated every step of the way, thank you
