Expectations of all employees and volunteers
This Code of Conduct applies to all employees, contractors and adults volunteering at, or on behalf of, UWC Atlantic. Volunteers can include Board or Committee members, people volunteering on campus etc.
We place the safeguarding of health, safety and wellbeing of our whole College community, our visitors and guests, at the centre of everything that we do.
It is the expectation that all UWC Atlantic employees and volunteers will follow the code of conduct both in action and in spirit.
We ask and expect you:
● Actively commit, leading by example, to the UWC mission,values and UWC Atlantic’s guiding principles;
● Demonstrate respect, inclusion and fairness towards others, regardless of their position or status on campus, ensuring they are treated with dignity in all actions and words, whether they are present or not;
● Promote and protect the good reputation of UWC Atlantic and avoid behaviours and actions that may bring the college into disrepute or generate negative publicity;
● Commit to safeguarding all members of the College community and to protecting them from harassment, sexual misconduct, bullying, abuse, assault, violence or discrimination of any kind;
● Take all reasonable steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of yourself, all members of the College community and all visitors and College users;
● Establish appropriate boundaries with all employees, work colleagues and students;
● Do not take advantage of your position for your own gain or personal advantage, nor disclose confidential information obtained through the course of your work at the college; Employee, Volunteer & Contractor Code of Conduct

● Wear, or carry (where this is not possible due to the job role) your identification badge and lanyard at all times whilst on College premises to identify yourself as an employee, contractor or volunteer;
● Carry out your duties/activities in a professional manner with integrity, care and diligence, demonstrating thought and compassion to others and not speaking or treating them in a negative or hurtful manner.
● Respect the Smoke Free Campus policy at all times;
● Do not attend work or carry out duties whilst under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or other substances which prevent you from doing so competently;
● Ensure Declarations of Interest are completed as circumstances change or arise to ensure any potential conflicts of interest can be be effectively managed or mitigated;
● Comply with GDPR legislation, ensuring information is collated, stored, retained and disposed of appropriately and in line with regulatory requirements;
● Be punctual to demonstrate respect for others and to make the most of working time;
● Familiarise yourself with UWC Atlantic policies, follow College procedures and comply with reasonable instructions given by your line manager and/or the Management Group and Leadership Team;
● For employees, be absent only when authorised to be so or are unwell;
● Participate fully in training and development opportunities;
● Dress in a way that is appropriate to your position and duties; inclusive of relevant protective clothing and PPE if required to carry out your duties.
● If, following your appointment or engagement you are subject to any arrest, criminal record, cautions or warnings or a police investigation you must inform your manager (Employees) or the People and Culture Team (Volunteers and Contractors) and the Lead DBS signatory immediately.
