GET INVOLVED Uni isn’t just about classes – there’s SO much else going on! With over 24,000 students and 1000 events per year at UWA, trust us: you’ll never be bored. Joining a club is a great way to meet people with common interests, have fun, and develop your skills. You may even like to run for a committee position, which will give you valuable experience, friendships and look great on your résumé! Our clubs cover everything from anime to zoology, so you’re sure to find one (or two, or ten) that interests you! And by the way, if there doesn’t happen to be a club dedicated to your interest yet, the Guild offers grants and support to help you start one! UWA CLASSICS SOCIETY (CLASSOC) The UWA Classics Society is a club for students interested in or studying Ancient History. UWA INTERNATIONAL LAW CLUB (ILC) The University of Western Australia International Law Club is a student club for anyone interested in International Law. Founded in 2016, the club aims to promote the field of International Law in the university community through lectures, workshops and round-table discussions as well as other social events. UWA LABOR CLUB The UWA Labor club celebrates Australia’s oldest and most established political party in Australia, engaging in political activities both on and off campus to deliver progressive outcomes. Through a balance of both social and professional events, we aim to foster awareness in WA and bring students together in understanding why it is important to share progressive Labor values. WA MEDICAL STUDENTS ORCHESTRA (WAMSO) The WA Medical Students’ Orchestra (WAMSO) caters for students with an interest in music and medicine. WAMSO performs in a variety of fundraising concerts and takes part in community engagement programs. No auditions required, all students from all levels are welcome! There’s also an associated choir, Choir Cantori. It’s heaps of fun and a great way to make new friends! ENVOY UWA Envoy is the first non-for-profit, youth led organisation to provide analysis of geopolitics. FINANCE ASSOCIATION OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA (FAWA) FAWA is an independent student-run organisation that enables high achieving students from UWA to engage and express their interest in finance outside of the normal curriculum. UWA STUDENT MANAGED INVESTMENT FUND (SMIF) Unique to UWA and the first of its kind in Australia, the UWA Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) runs a live portfolio of Australian equities. SMIF aims to provide students with the framework to succeed in today’s financial markets of both a professional and social nature. We give them the opportunity to learn about investing in a safe, controlled environment. UWA WOMEN IN BUSINESS UWA Women in Business stands for gender equality with a pronounced focus on the corporate sector. MARKETING AND MANAGEMENT SOCIETY OF UWA (MARKAM) Markam is a student-run society that aims to connect students studying Marketing and Management with industry professionals as well as offering career advice, networking opportunities and employment prospects in relation to these two particular fields. Our focus is to ensure that students receive practical opportunities to develop and showcase their skills within marketing and management, that help them stand out from the rest.

CREATIVE WRITING & POETRY (CWAP) CWAP is a club for anybody interested in writing or story-related creativity, at all levels of skill and interest. We have heaps of fun events catering to all skill levels, including coffee catch-ups to play games, poetry slams, prose and poetry workshops, online writing competitions, and meetups to swap extended pieces for intensive feedback, plus much more (we have plans to start a book discussion!). We encourage anyone to come along to meet likeminded people and be inspired to be creative!

FASHION AND BEAUTY APPRECIATION SOCIETY UWA (FABSOC) FABSOC UWA is the Fashion and Beauty Appreciation Society. We are a social club on campus that runs fun, inclusive and glamorous events centring around fashion and beauty. This includes glitter stalls, makeup workshops, fashion shows, skincare workshops, clothes swaps and much more. UWA CRAFT BREWERS’ For the love of beer! The University Craft Brewers’ Association (UCBA) is the premier club on campus for the enjoyment of a quality brew. UNIVERSITY DRAMATIC SOCIETY (UDS) UDS is a student-run semi-professional theatre company based at the University of Western Australia, and affiliated with the UWA Student Guild. Running for 100 years, UDS has a long history but an interest in producing work that is exciting and relevant today. UWA HARRY POTTER SOCIETY The UWA Harry Potter Society is a club for all the witches, wizards, and muggles of UWA. Our aim is to encourage the appreciation and enjoyment of all aspects of the wizarding world of Harry Potter, both on and off campus. This is our first year where we have a registered quidditch team to verse the other universities and we are always looking for keen players! UWA FILM SOCIETY (UFS)

The UWA Film Society is run by student cinephiles who love to express their passion for cinema. We are a haven for all manner of film lovers, whether you love the mainstream blockbusters, obscure French avantgarde cinema or have a desire for both. Our film club aims to bring together students who share an interest in all things movie related. This includes: critiquing films, appreciating a filmmaker/actor’s work or just general discussions! Our events aim to bring value to the communal aspect of watching films. We run film screenings, weekly film discussions and even quiz nights! We are currently run by co-presidents Dominic Kwaczynski and Thomas Tang, who also serve as film editors of Pelican Magazine, which allows members to express their love for films through published writing opportunities as well.

CHINESE STUDENT AND SCHOLAR ASSOCIATION (CSSA) Chinese Student and Scholar Association (UWACSSA) was established in 1986 under the support of the education department from the People’s Republic of China embassy in Australia. It is a non-profit voluntary student service association. We help Chinese students to solve the difficulty within their study and life in Perth. We are a not-for-profit student organization that enable platforms to foster a sense of community amongst the Sri Lankan youth of Australia or people who enjoy the culture! WA MEDICAL STUDENTS’ SOCIETY (WAMSS) The WA Medical Students’ Society (WAMSS) is the peak representative body for all UWA medical students, representing students to the Faculty and local and national stakeholders. WAMSS provides support through advocacy and academic programs, and runs a variety of social, global health and social justice initiatives, providing plenty of opportunities for students to get involved. HEALTH STUDENTS SOCIETY (HSS) The Health Students’ Society (HSS) is a student-run faculty society representing both undergraduate and postgraduate students studying a health related major. We aim to provide both social and educational opportunities for health students and encourage students to make the most of their time on campus. SCIENCE UNION The Science Union is an umbrella club for science students, giving you an opportunity to expand your horizons and meet people that you wouldn’t in your regular classes, as well as helping you access clubs specific to your majors. STUDENTS FROM NATURAL AND AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES (SNAGS) With a proud history spanning back to 1913, the Students of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (SNAGS) is a Faculty Society at the University of Western Australia devoted to all students studying in the associated majors/disciplines of the School of Biological Sciences, the School of Agriculture & Environment and the School of Earth Sciences.
