There’s a lot to learn ... outside the classroom, too! Join your fellow Eagles in one of 11 residence halls on campus. Walk to class in less than five minutes. Enjoy the wireless internet, refrigerator, and cable television hook-up provided in your res hall room. Wash and dry your gear in the laundry facilities. (No worries, you’ll get a text when it’s done.) Print your research paper in the computer lab. Repeat the next day. FYI: Living on campus is popular! Submit your $100 enrollment deposit as soon as possible after you are admitted in order to begin the housing application process.
Step out of your residence hall. Join one of the over 170 different student organizations on campus. Take up a club or an intramural sport. Join a band or choir. You’ll find a lot to do!

Applications for fall 2014 are accepted beginning Sept. 15, 2013. All complete applications received by Feb. 1, 2014, will receive full consideration. Applications received or completed after that date will be considered on a spaceavailable basis. Applications for spring 2014 are accepted beginning Sept. 1, 2013.
Admission Decisions
Students with completed applications can expect to receive an admission decision in 4–6 weeks. You can track the status of your application through your WINGS Student Center at https://wings.uwlax.edu.
Some students may have their admission decision postponed. Students who are postponed will be notified of a final admission decision no later than May 1, 2014.
What We Consider All applications for admission will receive a comprehensive review. Academic preparation is the primary criteria used in the review process. We also consider demonstrated leadership, extracurricular involvement, special talent, personal statement, recommendations, and adding a diverse dimension to our campus community. Students completing rigorous high school courses, including senior year, will be stronger candidates for admission.

FRESHMAN ADMISSION PROCESS Apply online using the UW System application for undergraduate admission at www.apply.wisconsin.edu. Apply for scholarships through the UW-L Foundation. Deadline is February 15. Access the scholarship application through www.foundation.uwlax.edu.
Take the University of Wisconsin Placement Test in English, mathematics, and an optional foreign language. Tests are offered beginning in March at sites around Wisconsin. Information about test registration will be mailed in early February.

After graduation, have your high school send an official final high school transcript to the UW-L Admissions Office. In addition, send official Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate scores. If you have earned college credit during high school, you must request that an official transcript be sent from the institution that granted credit for transfer credit consideration. It is advantageous to have that transcript sent before Freshman Registration.

Sign up for on-campus housing. You will receive information about on-campus housing after submitting your $100 enrollment deposit. Complete the online housing application and submit a $75 housing deposit, also refundable until May 1, to reserve your space in the residence halls.
After January 1, apply for need-based financial aid using the FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov). Completed income tax information is needed to complete this form. You must provide your social security number on your UW System application in order to be considered for needbased financial aid. After the enrollment deposit is received, the Admissions Office will evaluate the courses you completed to determine the number of credits that you will be granted in transfer. This will be used to determine your classification as a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior.
When the evaluation of your credits is complete, you will receive an email notification. You can then view your transfer credit report online using the WINGS Student Center. Students will also be sent information regarding the University of Wisconsin Placement Tests in English and mathematics.
Transfer orientation is held in September for summer and fall transfer students and in January for winter session and spring transfer students.
Beginning in April, Minnesota residents must file for tuition reciprocity under the Minnesota/Wisconsin reciprocity agreement. Apply online at www.ohe.state.mn.us/ssl/reciprocity/apply1.cfm Note: All General Education requirements may be satisfied if you have completed an associate degree in a college parallel program at accredited four-year institutions, two-year collegiate transfer programs at two-year institutions, community colleges, or junior colleges. You must still meet all core, professional, diversity, and major/minor requirements. In accordance with a new UW System transfer policy, UW-L can now accept up to 72 credits from the Wisconsin Technical College System institutions without first having earned an associate degree. The courses that are transferable are in the areas of communication skills, social science, mathematics, and natural science. Should you wish to know the various equivalents, you can access the UW System Transfer Information System at www.uwsa.edu/tis. 12
