If your allergy falls outside the Big 8, make sure to ask to speak to a manager. Managers will help you organize individualized preparation of permissible meals, answer ingredient questions, and check labels!
PLAY IT SAFE IN THE DINING HALL Ask our attendants where gluten-free refrigerators are located for commerciallylabeled and packaged desserts.
The Copper Hood allergy station is located in all three dining halls, and excludes the "Big 8" food allergens and gluten from all menu items. All menu items served at The Copper Hood are fully labeled.
Self-service areas like salad bars can be risky—ask for a supervisor and have a salad prepared in the back. Fresh Food Co. provides green salads at their Copper Hood bar!
LET US KNOW HOW YOU ARE DOING We advocate for our students and want to make sure that they are finding safe and healthy foods. Let us know how we are doing or ask for further help via email at dining@virginia.edu.
