STRATEGIC GOAL 4: Brand–Making a Societal Impact

TU is the City of Tulsa’s only 4-year research university based in Tulsa. TU’s Strategic Plan calls for the university to be an economic driver of the city and region’s growth. Actions to achieve this goal and be a force for growth and good in the region include:

• Connecting with local entrepreneurs and funders to increase opportunity for entrepreneurial growth and for underrepresented groups to succeed.

• Engaging with local economic development and philanthropic organizations to provide research and support to address challenges such as access to healthy foods, access to transportation, organ donations in tribal populations, affordable housing access in the Tulsa metropolitan area, workforce policies, and innovative energy applications.

• Fostering faculty service on engines for community impact including the Tulsa Area United Way, Tulsa Economic Development Corporation, 36 Degrees North, Tulsa’s basecamp for Entrepreneurs, and Stitchcrew, a business accelerator for underrepresented groups.

• Creating an innovation center designed to commercialize TU-centric intellectual property with a focus on substantive societal impact.

STRATEGIC GOAL 5: Operations

The foundation for achieving all our strategic goals is to ensure transparent and well-functioning operations. Actions to achieve this outcome include:

• Promoting faculty, staff and student access to technology that provides the most up to date learning, allowing them to be integrated in our rapidly changing world.

• Facilitating faculty, staff, and student input in design updates and renovation of Helmerich Hall to support the execution of the College’s Strategic Plan.

• Updating policies and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of service and effectively communicate changes to faculty, staff, and students.

• Updating job responsibilities for chairs and staff, and periodically evaluate college committee structure.

• Hosting quarterly updates with partners in Admissions, Student Success, CaneCareers, Development, the Graduate School, and International Programs to enhance transparency.
