Tennessee looks to find production in Wilkinson’s absence

The Tennessee soccer team will be without its premier scorer Hannah Wilkinson this year after the senior ruptured her ACL in an exhibition match against Clemson earlier this month. With Wilkinson out for the season, head coach Brian Pensky said he is crushed. “First off, we’re devastated for Hannah,” Pensky said after Wednesday’s team practice. “The kid’s been in two World Cups, an Olympics and a couple U-20 World Championships. She was excited for this fall, as all seniors are. She played 99 percent of last fall as her senior year, and she literally found out two days before last fall ended that she was granted this extra year of eligibility. See SOCCER on Page 11

This weekend, the Fourth Annual Knoxville Tattoo Convention (KTC) is taking place at the Holiday Inn at World’s Fair Park. KTC is bringing in artists from all over the world to participate. The convention will showcase live tattooing, sideshows from performers like The Enigma, local art, vendors and contests. Nationally and internationally recognized tattoo artists Danny Fugate and wife Amanda Marie founded KTC with their team at Ambition Tattoo. Their goal was simply to bring a tattoo convention back to Knoxville so that Knoxville residents could have the opportunity to get tattooed by up-and-coming artists as well as experience international art. “It’s good for the community to keep this event going,” Fugate and Marie said. “Creating tattoo awareness and acceptance, quality tattoos and sanitary procedures performed only by professionals.” Besides just the tattoo art, the convention offers art from a variety of different media. “We believe in keeping the art alive,” they said. KTC even offers activities for kids, including a kid’s coloring contest so that they can feel involved as well. Each child receives a coloring page, and when they are finished, they can bring it up to the registration booth to trade it in for a ribbon. While this is good fun for the kids, it is also beneficial to the parents who want to attend but cannot find a sitter or feel that a tattoo convention is not the type place to bring their children. “Obviously no child will be getting tattooed,” (Top) Justin Keyes shares his tattoo of his home coordinates placed on his inner Marie said. “But how do we expect parents to arm. come if they can’t bring their child?” (Bottom) Megan Patterson shares her tattoo that represents sisterhood between her and her two friends.
