Have an amazing adventure. 1 How Higher Education Affects Lifetime Salary, U.S News and World Report, Aug. 5 2011 2 CISabroad Student Survey, Spring 2016 3 Study abroad may lead to better GPA, graduation rates, USA Today, July 14, 2010

It’s not just about living and learning in another country, it’s about setting yourself up for success academically, professionally, and personally. You also get to have an amazing adventure while you’re at it.

ELLIE BIXLER Anthropology, India, Fall 2018

Studying abroad is one of the hardest, most fulfilling things you can do during your college career. My advice is to go somewhere that will challenge and excite you, and push you out of your comfort zone. It’s surprising the places you’ll learn to love and call home.

WHO

CAN STUDY ABROAD?

Are you: A degree-seeking student at UTC? In good judicial and academic standing? Rocking at least a 2.5 GPA? Respectful? Driven (when it counts)? Finished with 24 credit hours of courses (before you depart)? Averse to boredom? OK with getting lost? Then study abroad is definitely for you!

As cliche as it sounds, studying abroad can change your life. I will never forget the people I met and the experiences I had abroad. It’s a chance to get to know yourself while also getting to know the world.

The Center for Global Education awards more than

$250,000 in scholarships every year AND your regular financial aid package (including scholarship and HOPE) may apply to your study abroad experience. There are also thousands of dollars available in national scholarships that we’ll help you apply for. Come to Study Abroad 102 to get all the deets about how study abroad can be affordable. Be brave. For me, it was my first time ever leaving the country and first-ever flight. I was completely and totally by myself but through this experience, I learned so much about myself and my boundaries. Push yourself. You will achieve great things!

UTC has sent over 440 students abroad, and

Environmental Policy & Planning, South Africa, Summer 2018

This experience was invaluable to the development of myself as a global citizen, as well as the person I have to face in the mirror every day. While I was learning about other people and practices across the globe, I learned things about myself that would have remained buried without this experience. I left part of my heart in my study

abroad county, as well as with the lifelong friends I made. If you have considered studying abroad but are hesitant about the process or finances, please just reach out and explore your options. There are vast resources and dedicated people desiring to replicate this once-in-lifetime experience for you, too! Do it! You won’t regret it!”
