Spending the Surplus?

Forecasts for FY2024 show a $3 3bn revenue surplus for Utah The Invest in Utah’s Future Coalition has suggested a $5 6bn wishlist of additional spending which would not only eliminate all surplus funds, but also necessitate creating additional revenue through tax hikes This is both unnecessary and unfair

SJR1 - Interim Property Tax Bill Moving Utah Down The Wrong Path

SJR1 proposes to amend the Utah Constitution to make the 45% residential exemption on property taxes the minimum (it is currently the ceiling) and allow the legislature to raise that percentage in the future A brief review of history shows how dangerous and damaging that would be

Taxpayers In Utah Score Big Win - Congressman Blake Moore Elected To Powerful Ways and Means Committee

On January 11th, 2023, it was announced that Utah’s Congressman Blake Moore (R- CD1) had been elected to the House Ways and Means Committee This is a huge win for taxpayers in Utah Utah has never had a Republican member on the committee since statehood and there has never been a member on the committee from any state west of Texas

Moving the Salt Lake Bees Ballpark

Last week, the Larry H Miller Group announced that it would be relocating its Salt Lake Bees baseball team to Daybreak, where it owns 1300 acres of undeveloped real estate What is interesting about this move is that the new stadium will be privately funded by the Larry H Miller Group and will not rely on any public funding
