HEALTH AND

When designing a health and recreation there was a need for circulation across the site. Using “weaving” as my design method,I created circulation and public terrace space. A mix of stone, water, and green roof creates a connection to the natural surroundings.
When redesigning caD’oro in venicemodern technology and homage came to mind. Using color changing metallic panels,I created a blue and gold facade to represent water and signi cance. Using the porportional system i’ve shownrespect for it’s history and brought venice into design of the future.

MARK FAST 2010-HIDDEN AND REVEALED DIAGRAM
When designing a fashion headquarters form mark fast my objective was to choose what to hide and reveal. The store, design studio, and showroom oors are completely transparent and take on a curvilinear form. The o ce,production and roof garden are rectilinear and change opacity based on where it is viewed from.

USING THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE PHOTOGRAPH AS A CONCEPTUAL BENCHMARK, I CREATED A “SPIRAL” FROM A SERIES OF SHIFTED AND STACKED BOXES. SHIFTING AND STACKING GIVES EVERY UNIT AN ABUNDANCE OF SUNLIGHT ALONG WITH NATURAL VENTILATION. THE ROOF SURFACES IN BETWEEN THESE BOXES ARE USED AS OUTDOOR SPACES FOR THE UNITS.TO SUPPORT CANTILEVERS AND LONG SPANS, EACH BOX IS SUPPORTED BY A TRUSS SYSTEM. THE GROUND FLOOR IS COMPRISED OF A SPA,RETAIL SPACE, AND A COURTYARD.
LOCATED ON 145 STREET AND AMSTERDAM AVE. IN MANHATTAN, THE FORMER PS 186 WAS AN INNOVATIVE SCHOOL WHEN BUILT IN 1906. ITS H SHAPED ALLOWED FOR BETTER HEALTH AND ITS STEEL STRUCTURE MADE IT ECONOMICALLY VIABLE. THIS ONCE GREAT BUILDING WAS CONDEMED IN 1976 DUE TO LACK OF PRESERVATION. THE GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS TO REVIVE THIS LANDMARK AND CREATE A NEW MIX USE BUILDING TO SUSTAIN THE COST AND USE OF IT.
