2024 USANA Kids Eat Annual Report

Page 1

Thank you for a great year of giving back!

As we pass the five-year mark of the USANA Kids Eat program launch, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the amazing students we serve and their perseverance. Schools have reported improved attendance, behavior, and test scores among the kids we support. While nutrition is vital, we understand that the consistency and support accompanying it are equally important. Armed with a well-fed body and the mental health benefits of stability and feeling supported, these kids are empowered to pursue their goals and excel as they grow into remarkable adults.

The incredible support from our community has transformed the USANA Kids Eat program into a vital source of hope and nourishment for children in need throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

Driven by the dedication of our passionate executives and Associates, and bolstered by the unwavering commitment of our community, the USANA Kids Eat initiative has become a true symbol of local kindness. Families have united, working hand in hand with friends and strangers to make a meaningful difference. Local businesses, recognizing the importance of community engagement, team unity, and social responsibility, have enthusiastically embraced USANA Kids Eat as a powerful avenue for change.

We are deeply inspired by their caring spirit, humbled by the enduring generosity of our community, and profoundly thankful for the ongoing support we receive.

Ultimately, our shared mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure no child goes hungry. To our supporters—your extraordinary involvement in the USANA Kids Eat program serves as a shining example of compassion in action. We are endlessly grateful for your continued dedication.

Sincerely,

We believe childhood hunger is unacceptable. At USANA Kids Eat, we’re dedicated to empowering children in need right here in the community where USANA Health Sciences is headquartered. Our program provides a practical and impactful framework to combat hunger, alleviate meal uncertainty, and inspire the community to join us in this vital mission.

Through powerful partnerships and collective action, we provide a stable source of food that helps kids unlock their full potential and instills hope for a brighter future. Each meal we deliver eases the burden on struggling families and ensures children receive the nutrition they need to thrive in school, chase their dreams, and experience the joys of childhood.

We serve because no child should ever go hungry.

Thanks to the generous support of our community, this report details the life-changing impact we’ve made together this year!

100% Donation Guarantee

At USANA Kids Eat, 100% of donations we receive go toward food and the distribution of the bags we assemble in our warehouse. This is made possible because USANA covers all of our administrative costs! Weekend Bag Program

For many children, school meals are a lifeline, providing essential food and nutrition. When these meals are unavailable during the weekends, many kids are left at risk of going hungry. A single bag of food can make a tremendous difference, offering nourishment and comfort to a child during those critical days away from school. That’s why our weekend bag program matters! Here’s the impact we made this year:

48 schools, clubs, and community groups supported

358,981 meals distributed

51,283 total weekend bags

1,396 kids served every weekend

Holiday Bag Project

This meaningful initiative provides food to children facing hunger during the extended winter break. By rallying community support, the project ensures that kids who rely on school meals for nourishment don’t go without during the holidays. Together, our USANA leaders and volunteers from around the Wasatch Front bring hope, nutrition, and care to children and families in need. Here’s the impact we made this year:

55 schools, clubs, and community groups supported 5,028 supported children

201,120 meals provided 892 volunteer donors involved

Our 2024 Impact

560,101 meals provided

10,583 supported children

4,502 volunteers

6,607 hours of volunteering

99 schools, clubs, and community groups supported

Impact Stories

The USANA Kids Eat weekend bag program ensures children have reliable meals, helping them focus, grow, and thrive. These impactful stories from school administrators and teachers highlight how the program alleviates food insecurity, fosters confidence, and brings hope to students and their families.

“We have many newly immigrated families arriving with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Without work visas, they take small side jobs, often renting a single room for $900 a month, sharing kitchens and bathrooms with other families. I know a family that sleeps five to a bed. While grateful for safety here, they struggle to afford groceries. That small bag of USANA Kids Eat food for their children means the world to them.”

“Behind each weekend bag is a child with a story. When the USANA Kids Eat carts arrive, I hear stories like, ‘I need this mac and cheese for my siblings,’ or ‘My mom is gone all weekend.’ One student named Lily, now in stable housing after leaving a shelter, relies on these bags as her main food source. Another student, Ben, hides his bag under my desk to keep it safe. These moments remind me how vital this program is for our students.”

“One family of four stands out—they all receive a weekend bag each week and rely on them to have dinner. These students have told us on multiple occasions they wouldn’t have been able to have dinner some nights if not for this program. The older kids prepare easy meals like canned ravioli and soup on their own. These bags also provide snacks, allowing students to confidently bring applesauce or trail mix to class, just like their peers. Your sponsorship is transforming lives in our community every day!”

Community in Action

This program impacts our supporters as much as the kids we serve. These stories from sponsors, volunteers, and program leaders highlight the deep connections and transformative experiences made possible through USANA Kids Eat. From fostering service within families to creating meaningful volunteer opportunities, these voices show the far-reaching effect of our shared commitment to ending childhood hunger.

“We are incredibly honored to partner with USANA Kids Eat to provide secure and safe food sources for children in need. This partnership aligns with our values and gives our employees and their families the chance to participate hands-on in packing bags, stocking the warehouse, and joining the holiday bag event. Our employees truly value these opportunities, knowing 100% of their efforts directly provide food for kids.”

Adoptive Sponsor

“During one volunteer orientation, I described the resilience of the kids we serve, how they face challenges with grit and grow into amazing adults. Later, a volunteer told me, ‘I was one of those kids, and I’m so touched by how you see and represent us.’ I reminded her it’s true—these kids grow up to be incredible people with giving hearts and unique perspectives. Her story is proof of the impact we make!”

“When I retired, I wanted to volunteer weekly. After COVID halted my time at a nursing facility, I remembered how much my family enjoyed filling USANA Kids Eat bags one Christmas. I reached out to Michelle, started prepping products for the bags, and soon my husband joined me. I love the physical work—it reminds me of my job at Costco—and knowing we’re helping those who can’t help themselves makes it so rewarding. Thank you for this opportunity!”

USANA Kids Eat Volunteer

“My family wanted a way to teach our kids about service. By sponsoring a school, we come monthly to pack bags—it’s scheduled like sports or music lessons. I love that my kids are involved—it’s not just our words or money, but the actions of our kids making an impact. Seeing them pack backpacks and knowing where they’re going has brought so much joy and a tangible way for us to give back.”

Adoptive Sponsor

Adoptive sponsors at USANA Kids Eat are more than donors—they are partners in creating hope for children facing hunger. This year, they ensured kids received reliable weekend meals, while corporations and families united through hands-on service, fostering empathy and action. By adopting schools, sponsors built lasting community connections and empowered others to join, extending their impact.

USANA Kids Eat’s unique structure ensures that every effort directly impacts children in need. Thanks to USANA Health Sciences covering all operational costs, the focus remains solely on serving kids and expanding the program to reach more schools and communities.

Adoptive sponsors are the heart of USANA Kids Eat’s mission. They embody what it means to come together, take action, and make a difference—one meal, one child, and one community at a time. These sponsors exemplify the power of unity, creating a brighter, hunger-free future one meal at a time.
