CAMP ZAMA, Japan - In partnership with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and Defense Commissary Agency at Camp Zama will honor all who served during the Vietnam War on March 29 with free commemorative lapel pins, marking the war’s 50th anniversary. Any Vietnam-era Veteran who served on active duty between Nov. 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975, regardless of location, is invited to visit the Main Store from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on March 29, National Vietnam War Veterans Day, to receive their United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin. Complimentary Vietnam Veteran bumper stickers will also be available at the event. “The Camp Zama Exchange is privileged to partner with the commissary and the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration to offer this token of our Nation’s appreciation to those who served during the Vietnam War,” said Exchange General Manager Gloria Sylvia. “Too few of those who served during Vietnam received the homecoming their distinguished service deserved. Upcoming Tomodachi Road Closure
Recall repairs for affected vehicles are FREE and should be done before May 1, 2018 to pass JCI renewal inspections happening on or after this date.
This will be the primary physical training route for all unit / formation runs on Camp Zama. Individual runners may still utilize other routes within the installation, but are encouraged to use sidewalks for their safety. ACP 2 will open at 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, to facilitate access to the southern end of post during the route closure.
The manufacturer of Takata airbags is recalling millions of vehicles due to airbag defects.

Please check with your dealer to be on the safe side if your model car is not included on the lists at the aforementioned websites. Safety is the priority!
Starting April 1, 2018, Tomodachi Road will be closed to vehicular traffic from L Street to Range Road from 6:00 to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday — excluding holidays — in order to facilitate unit Physical Training.
There will be three crossing points to allow access to the western portion of the installation: - B Street adjacent to the Dining Facility (DFAC) and the Yano Softball Field - Sendai Road adjacent to the Gas/Service Station and JGSDF Headquarters - Parking Entrance to Consolidated Motor Pool Contact DSN: 263-5640 or COMMERCIAL: 046-407-5640 for more information.

Submissions to the weekly newsletter should be sent to: usag.japan@gmail.com. If you or your organization(s) have something you would like the U.S. Army in Japan Community to know about, please send the item/event/notification/update to the aforementioned email address. Be concise, but include as many relevant details as possible (WHO the item will affect or is intended for, WHAT it is about, WHEN it will be taking place, WHERE it will be taking place). Please keep in mind, USAG Japan PAO will edit all material received. Items may be pared down to delete any nonessential information before they are included in the weekly email, but not so much that they are incomplete. It is recommended not to submit an item until you are certain all pertinent details are verified and are not likely to change. Please include any photos/flyers/pdfs/powerpoint slides that can be used to visually add to the information sent.

Current Half Road Closure
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Japan District is conducting road pavement at Sendai Street and 5th Avenue until March 31, 2018. Monitors with flags will be on location to direct traffic. For more information, please contact DSN: 263-4166 or COMMERCIAL: 046-407-4166.
The deadline for submissions is FRIDAY at NOON. The weekly email comes out every MONDAY. In the event of a holiday weekend, the deadline will move back a day to NOON on Thursdays. In the event Monday is a holiday, the weekly newsletter will be sent out on Tuesday.
