Letter from the Director –Adam W. Delka

Welcome to The Spring Musical Production of “The Little Mermaid”! With boundless excitement and immense pleasure, we extend our warmest invitation to you to join us for a magical journey under the sea with our production of “The Little Mermaid.” As the director of this enchanting spectacle, I am thrilled to present a theatrical experience that promises to dazzle your senses and capture your hearts.

“The Little Mermaid” holds a special place in the hearts of audiences worldwide, and we are delighted to bring this beloved tale to life on our stage. From the depths of the ocean to the shores of the human world, our talented cast and crew have poured their passion and creativity into every aspect of this production, creating a world of wonder and enchantment that will leave you spellbound.

Thank you for joining us for our first production of the season here at Bridgeland High School. It seems appropriate to select William Shakespeare’sA Midsummer Night’s Dream,as we are navigating through uncharted territories in educational theatre and live performances. It’s almost like a dream…or a “Puckish” nightmare, as surely someone must be playing a joke on us all. We are also performing outdoors, just as Shakespeare would have in the Renaissance period. Our production theme for the year is20-21 A Space Odyssey We found this to be a fitting theme, as we are forging through the great unknown in theatre, education, and the world as we know it. Plus, each of our shows this year will likely seem a bit “out there”, as normal operations are no longer the way of things. We, as a theatre community, are trying to figure out how to keep theatre and performances alive in school. The challenges laid out have forced us to be innovative and resourceful so that we can continue to offer our students and communities this beloved art form. Hence, our very first outdoor production. Welcome to the Bear Cave.

I am particularly proud to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of our student leaders in key areas of our production. Their dedication and talent have been instrumental in shaping the vision and execution of “The Little Mermaid.”

Our student directors have demonstrated remarkable leadership and artistic vision. They guide their peers with insight and passion to bring the story of Ariel and her friends to life. Their commitment to excellence and ability to inspire others has been invaluable to the success of our production.

I am beyond honored to be named the new Theatre Director here at Bridgeland. In a few short weeks the students, parents, and Bridgeland HS faculty and staff have shown me what an amazing community we have here. Our student organization is alive and thriving. These young adults ultimately just want to do theatre. Our current state of pandemic crisis has made special moments and opportunities like this to have more value and meaning than ever before. Our love for performing, design, construction, and the ever so important elements collaboration and community are what have been missing over these past few months. Until now! These students have seized the opportunity to work and learn under some incredible circumstances. Each day, the students have shown up with a positivity and willingness to do whatever it takes to have this opportunity. Even if it means wearing masks while rehearsing outdoors in 90+ degree weather. That, folks, is dedication. I am beyond proud to be a part of such a fine group of young ladies and gentlemen.

Our student choreographers have infused our musical numbers with energy, style, and precision, creating captivating dance sequences that will transport you to the heart of Atlantica. Their choreography has added depth and emotion to our storytelling, enhancing the magic of “The Little Mermaid” with every step.

Finally, our student stage managers have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that every aspect of our production runs smoothly. Their organization, attention to detail, andcalm under pressure have been the backbone of our operation, allowing our cast and crew to shine on stage.

Lastly, I want to say a quick thanks to all of our Booster Officers, Booster Members, corporate and family sponsors for helping make the Bridgeland Theatre Arts Booster Club (BTABC) and URSA MAJOR Theatrics a successful and worthwhile educational experience for our students, Bridgeland community, and audiences. It still not too late to become a supporting member of the BTABC or a corporate sponsor. We cannot continue to do theatre without your support. Please reach out to our BTABC officers or me if you need information on how to show your support. And a very special thanks to our Technical Director, Mr. Nathan Stanaland, for being a welcoming rock as we set sail on this uncharted adventure. We could not make the magic without you! Now, sit back, relax, mask up, slather on some bug spray and enjoy our production ofA Midsummer Night’s Dream

Sincerely, Mr. Delka

As patrons of the arts, your presence and support are invaluable to us, and we are truly honored to have you join us for this special event. We invite you to immerse yourselves in the magic of live theatre and experience the joy and wonder that only a night at the theatre can provide.

On behalf of our entire cast and crew, I extend my deepest gratitude for your continued support of the arts. We look forward to sharing this extraordinary journey with you and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you for choosing to spend your time with us. May your hearts be filled with the enchantment of “The Little Mermaid.”

With thanks,

Mr. Adam W. Delka
