The method used in this design is refers to the Waterfront Design Resources literature from the Department of City Planning, Waterfront Urban Design Technical Advisory Committee (1997) in San Francisco. The objectives include reconnecting the city to the waterfront, creating continuous waterfront access, and uncovering the unique identities of the districts along the waterfront. There are three important aspects used in this design, including open space and public access, views, and historic resources. The design process is carried out in accordance with the literature sources used. The result of the design reveals that there are 11 open spaces serve as hubs accommodating various activities for visitors and the community at the study location. Each of these hubs offers diverse functions, including ecological, commercial, historical, and tourism functions within the existing residential area. In essence, through the design of the riverfront, the author hopes to elevate the face of Pontianak to the next level.
