Aubrey was taking the train to see her grandparents. Mom and Dad sat near her. Aubrey looked out of the window at the beautiful scene. There were lush, green trees. There was a wide, sparkling river. The sun was bright in the afternoon sky.
“Dad, where did trees come from?” she asked.
“All you see in nature was made by God,” said Dad.
“How?” Aubrey asked.
“He made it all just by saying so,” Dad replied.
“Wow,” said Aubrey, gazing at the sky. “God really is amazing.”
LESSON 1 • SEPTEMBER 7, 2025
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” (Genesis 1:1–2, NIV).
A Great Creation
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth did not have a shape. The earth was empty. There was no light.
Then God said, “Let there be light.” There was light! God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light, “day.” He called the darkness, “night.” There was night. Then morning came. That was the first day. God said He wanted a space between heaven and earth. God made this space and called it “sky.” There was night. Then morning came. That was the second day.
God said He wanted water in some places and dry ground in other places. God called the dry ground, “land.” He called the waters, “seas.” Then God said He wanted plants, trees, fruits, and vegetables to grow on the land. And it happened! There was night. Then morning came. That was the third day.
In today’s Bible Story, God created many things in nature just by speaking them into existence. Do you remember what God created and the days He did it? Find the day and write what God created in the space below it.

PRIMARY LIFE APPLICATION STORY
It is Thursday. Allen has gym class today.
“Allen, why aren’t you in uniform?” asked Mr. Law, the gym teacher.
“I forgot it, Mr. Law,” Allen said.
“Well, that means you can’t participate in class today, and you will also receive a U for being unprepared,” Mr. Law said.
“Yes, I know, Mr. Law,” said Allen sadly.
Allen could hear his mom’s voice from earlier that morning.
“Don’t forget your uniform, Son,” she said. Allen promised himself that he would remember the rules.

“I am the LORD your God…” “You shall have no other gods before me” (from Exodus 20:2–3, NIV).
God Is the Boss
God is the Boss of the entire universe. He showed the Children of Israel how much He loved them by taking them out of bondage. They were suffering and in slavery and He let them know who the real “Boss” was. Like every boss, God has things He wants done. He wants us to know Him better and have a relationship with Him. He told the Israelites not to create other gods or worship them. He said that He would punish them for their sins of disobedience. God also said not to misuse His name and to remember the Sabbath day. He said we could work for six days, but on the seventh day, we had to rest. That means that no one should work—not you, your brother, sister, parents, animals, or anyone else. God said the Sabbath was holy and blessed. God worked for six days and created the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in the earth. He rested on the seventh day. We see that God is the boss, and He rules.

Gabe and Dad walked into the school gym.
“Your coach seems nice. Your new court looks good,” said Dad, smiling. Gabe looked around. The basketball hoops were new. The benches were clean. The floor was shiny.
A door opened and the players ran out.
“Those kids are so big!” gasped Gabe. “They will never let me play on this team.”
“You can do it,” said Dad.
Gabe shook his head. “I’m too afraid.”
“Son, God gave you the ability,” said Dad. “Ask Him to help you play well.”

Help Is on the Way
God said to Moses, “Send a leader from each tribe into Canaan to explore. I am going to give the land to the Israelites.” Moses did what God asked. The men came back after forty days.
“Canaan is full of milk and honey. It has beautiful fruit,” the leaders said. They showed the people the fruit they had brought back.
“But the people are powerful. The cities are large,” the leaders said.
The Israelites cried. They were scared. Joshua and Caleb were not afraid.
“The land is very good. If God is pleased with us, He will lead us into it. We must not disobey God. We do not have to be afraid of the people who are there. God is with us,” they said.
