Cliff was lying on the grass. He was busy coloring. “What are you up to?” Dad asked.
Cliff smiled. He showed Dad his notebook. It was filled with pictures he made. There was one of clouds. There was one of a flower. There was a twisted tree. “Why did you draw these?” asked Dad.
“God made these things. They are my favorite things. I draw, then I thank God,” said Cliff.
“You love God’s creation,” said Dad. “I bet God loves your creation, too!”
BIBLE STORY 2
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” (from Genesis 1:1–2, NIV).
A Great Creation
God is the Creator. He made everything.
On the first day, He made light. He called the light “day.” He called the dark “night.”
On the second day, God made the sky.
On the third day, God made dry land. He pushed the waters into seas. He made plants of all kinds. Some had fruit. Some did not. God saw that it was all good.
God is the Creator! What did He make first? What did He make second? What did He make third? Write 1, 2, 3, to show the order.

It was Sunday dinner at the Wilsons’ house.
The table was filled with good food and dessert.
Raina sat close to the dessert. She ate slowly.
“You must eat your vegetables,” Mom said.
“Oh, Mom,” Raina said. She wanted to get to her dessert.
“Before you eat your dessert,” Dad said, “vegetables are first. They make you strong and healthy.”
“Desserts are only a treat,” Mom said. “If you only eat dessert, you won’t be healthy.”
“Okay, Mom and Dad,” Raina said.
BIBLE STORY 2
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me” (from Exodus 20:2–3, NIV).
God Is the Boss
God said, “I am the Lord your God.” God brought His people out of Egypt. He saved them. God gave the people rules to follow to keep them happy. “Do not have any other gods before me,” He said. God said not to make idols and worship them. We must not misuse God’s name. Don’t say bad things and say God’s name. We are to say God’s name with good things. God also said, “Don’t do any work on the Sabbath day. It is blessed and holy.” It’s a day of rest. We must obey all that God says.
Everyone is happy when the rules are followed. Circle and count all the smiling faces. Write the amounts on the lines.

“We love Ms. Dunn,” said all the children. “She is a fun Sunday School teacher. She plays games and acts out Bible stories with us.”
“Ms. Dunn misses her home in Africa. She would like a card,” Sharon said.
They taped two yellow poster boards together. Then they placed heart and flower stickers everywhere!
They drew smiling faces and stars on the boards. They drew Ms. Dunn. Each child wrote his or her name on the card.
The children showed Ms. Dunn their love and it made her feel special. Ms. Dunn was happy with her card.
BIBLE STORY 2
“The [stranger] living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were [strangers] in Egypt. I am the LORD your God” (from Leviticus 19:34, NIV).
Act It Out
God said He is the LORD. God gave us laws about being holy and just. People should see His love in us. Sometimes we have more than we need, and we should share with those who have less than us. Never take what is not yours, tell the truth no matter what, and never, ever cheat!
Always honor God’s name. Never use His name in the wrong way. Show love and compassion to disabled people and treat everyone exactly the same. Try to live in harmony with your neighbors and love them as yourself.
God said to love each other as He has loved us. Color this picture of children from different places.

“Here is your new school,” said Grammy. “Let’s meet your teacher.”
Jace’s eyes got big. His feet got heavy. He was too scared to move.
“Look at the playground,” said Grammy. “Look at all those ride-on toys!”
“I can’t,” said Jace. He closed his eyes. “The kids look too big. I think they’re mean.”
“Oh no,” said Grammy. She stopped. She gave Jace a big hug. “You are safe. This is a good place. Your teacher will care for you. God cares for you, too.”
Jace took a big, slow breath in and out. “Jesus, give me peace,” he prayed. Then Jace was ready to go play!
BIBLE STORY 2
“If the LORD is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us” (Numbers 14:8, NIV).
Help Is on the
Way
God’s people stood near Canaan. Canaan was a special land. God was giving it to His people. God spoke to Moses. “Send leaders into Canaan. Look all around.”
So Moses sent twelve men to Canaan. They explored for forty days. Then they came back.
“Look!” the leaders said. “Canaan is so good. It has a lot of milk. It has a lot of honey. It has this pretty fruit. But, it also has big people. The cities are very strong.”
God’s people cried. They were scared to go to Canaan. Two leaders got angry. “God is with us! Do not fear!”
Look at the pictures from the story. Look at the words. Can you match them?
