Weekly Newsletter Summer 2019 Week 6 It has been an incredible week at Upton with us hosting our first School’s Plastic Free Forum. To have fourteen schools attend and key community groups, keeping Windsor single-use-plastic-free was a privilege. We hope this event will grow each term in numbers and impact. Alongside this we launched our ‘Drop in the Ocean’ campaign at Upton. We would be so interested to hear from the children in Assembly on Monday what you as a family may wish to pledge in terms of making a difference and saving the planet! The children have so many ideas and are incredible ambassadors for their future world. Last evening I was delighted to be invited to Windsor Parish Church to attend the Service of Institution and Installation of Revd Canon Sally Lodge as Team Rector. It was a wonderful service welcoming Revd Sally to Windsor. It was lovely to see Revd Pete Matthew and Canon David Hopgood there also, both very popular with our Upton children in their assemblies. Thank you for your patience and understanding around Sports Day this year. It will now be held on 1st July. Please see my letter sent out earlier this afternoon for more details. I am sure the weather will be kind to us on the 1st and it will be a wonderful day for all. It was lovely to talk to parents at the coffee morning this week. We discussed a variety of topical matters and we will distribute the minutes on Monday for your interest. One point to note leading from the meeting: Upton will, going forwards, only serve water as a drink for the children at tea-time and after clubs. There is no reason for us to still offer squash or juice and we do want to ensure the children are aware of the implications of these fluids on their teeth, and the importance of drinking water. At lunchtime the children have always had water only with their meal. Next week is Assessment Week at Upton and reports will be issued on 5th July. We look forward to the welcome meetings next week for Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Transition ahead of the children moving up and those joining us in September. Rhian Thornton Do you like our new banner? The idea was led by Zara in Form 6, with contributions from the SUPA Committee! It sits proudly on St Leonards Road perimeter fence.

Wellbeing Tip of the Week “Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” Dalai Lama Please ensure that your child wears their hat/ cap and blazer when coming to and leaving school. All pupils must be wearing their summer uniform with navy ankle socks please. Prep pupils must each have their UHS reusable water bottle in school every day and all pupils must have their school fleeces and cagoule here every day. Thank you. Upton House School

This week we welcomed Luke Delahunty to school for our Sports for Schools sponsorship event. Luke competes in the GB Invictus games in handcycling, rowing, wheelchair rugby and archery events. After an inspirational assembly reminding us to be resilient and hardworking, children from Transition to Form 6 took part in a sponsored workout with tremendous effort, energy and enthusiasm. We all enjoyed the benefits of keeping our bodies and minds healthy and were inspired to exercise regularly. Please would you return your child’s sponsorship form and monies to the School Office no later than Wednesday 12th June or you can sponsor your child by following the link
