Weekly Newsletter Spring 2020 Week 8 What another exciting House swimming gala this year! It was such a close result and the score kept changing throughout the gala, right up until the last event—the thrilling cannon race. The overall results were St Andrew 86, St Christopher 95 and St George winning with 99. Well done to all our swimmers. We still have medals to hand out in next week’s assembly for the best PBs achieved in each year group. We have the IAPS swimming rounds taking place today at Brockhurst and Marlston House School near Newbury; we will update you on the results next week. Laura Crossland

We hope you have your favourite book character costumes ready for our World Book day this coming Monday.

There are lots of events planned including a costume parade to show the school your fantastic efforts—we look forward to seeing your Gruffalos, Matildas, Paddingtons and Harry Potters - the list is endless and it’s completely up to you.

Form 6 have been thinking about alternative ideas for things that we could give up for Lent or for the month of March. Here are some of their ideas:  Stop using clingfilm – use re-usable silicon lids or beeswax covers  Put one non-perishable food item into a box each day and at the end of Lent/March give them to a

food bank  Try using soap nuts to wash your clothes – over 330 washes in one bag full (£13)  Stop using the tumble drier  Put the money that you have saved from stopping something into a money box and use it to

buy a tree, adopt an endangered animal or give to charity  Have meat-free days  Have electronic-free days  Only buy fruit and veg that is not wrapped in plastic  Walk instead of driving  Put one item of clothing into a box for each day and donate them to the charity shop  Only but new stuff if you REALLY need it  Turn down your heating by 1˚C  Use both sides of paper – when writing and when photocopying  Give up buying magazines – read them online  Limit your shower time to 4 minutes We hope that you like our ideas. On Monday Form 3 visited the Guildhall in Windsor.

They had exclusive access to the museum and were lucky enough to handle some of the precious artefacts, try on some period costumes and explore the site of some very special occasions.

They practiced their deductive skills and asked some excellent questions later using what they found out to create some lovely work.

As there were some children and staff absent for the class photos taken this week, the photographer will be returning towards the end of the term to catch up with those missed. The proofs will be available at the start of next term.
