Weekly Newsletter Spring 2020 Week 6 What a wonderful day to end this half term with our annual House Music Competition. We were entertained with an array of musical talent from our Prep girls; from signing to rock bands we were not disappointed. We were very fortunate to welcome Mr Taylor, Head of Music at Farnborough Hill, for judging as well as being joined by some of his pupils who played a variety of instruments for us this afternoon. We were introduced to the huge double base and bassoon along with the clarinet and oboe to name a few. Judging as always was tough and it was a hard fought victory for St Christopher who pipped St Andrew to the cup by only four points - congratulations St Christopher!
Form 5 and 6 selected teams went to St Piran’s this week for a netball tournament. The girls played 6-7 matches each, scoring almost 30 goals overall! Form 6 did incredibly well too finishing 4th in the age group but Form 5 came back with Gold from winning every match played. Congratulations girls, you all played well and should be very proud.
Transition S took us on an Upton journey into space this morning, exploring the galaxies and ordering the planets from the sun. They shared some fascinating facts before ending on a romantic note with a valentine song to spread love to all of our hearts. Great work from Transition S—a wonderful performance to end the half term.
We would like to invite our Upton families to join us for a charity walk on Sunday 1st March at 2pm to raise vital funds for the Australian Bushfire Emergency Fund WWF. Our route will commence at the Castle gates at the top of the Long Walk and we will walk up to the Copper Horse and back again (5 miles). Everyone, including dogs, are welcome to join us. We ask that adults make a £5 donation online or hand this into the School Office. (https://www.uptonhouse.org.uk/payments) Children will be free. We will start the walk together but you are welcome to walk at your own pace and complete as much or as little of the full circular route as you wish. Please note that once we have gone through the white gates into the deer park all dogs must be kept on a lead and no bicycles are allowed on the Long Walk. We hope to see you there.
