Weekly Newsletter Spring 2019 Week 11 It was a pleasure to see such dedication and teamwork at the Prep swimming gala yesterday. Well done Form 3, your first gala and you were incredible. It all came down to 1 point in the final race, the squadron relay; we had a photo finish judged by Coach Chris from Windsor Swim Club and St George were victorious. Thank you, parents, for all your support and wonderful cheering. I was delighted to attend the Heathfield Fashion Show entitled ‘Purpose’ last evening. The talent displayed was truly inspiring, the designs, the artwork, the confidence was a joy to see—the sense of resolve and determination amongst the girls was exhilarating, a fabulous event. I do hope the parents’ evening meetings were informative. We appreciate they are short but please remember that teachers are always happy to talk further if necessary. I am so proud of all the children from Forms 1 to 6 who displayed such enthusiasm for their LAMDA exams this week. The children have been working so hard to learn their lines and were excited to at last be able to perform to the examiners. A big thank you to Miss Duncan. Our end of year production this year will be Aladdin. The children from Form 2 upwards will be performing on the evenings of 4th and 5th July and tickets will be available next term. Spending time with the children is always the highlight of my day, it was a joy this week to read the stories written by Form 2 and to celebrate the wonderful work happening throughout Prep. BE SUPA. TURN OUT YOUR CUPBOARDS FOR CHARITY! The SUPAs are on an upcycling mission for charity. Please could we have your old Tshirts, however big, small or old they look? Other things we need are: buttons, ribbons, material, pom-poms or any unwanted craft materials. Strangely enough we also want old plastic bottles e.g. Coke, lemonade, milk bottles! We will leave a collecting box outside the hall under the canopy. Thank you. The SUPA Committee Earrings—a polite reminder that children are only permitted to wear small stud earrings in school which must be removed or taped over for PE. We have a strict uniform policy, including shoes; if you are unsure please ask for a copy of the uniform and/ or shoe list from the School Office. Upton House School
