Weekly Newsletter Spring 2018 Week 9 What a wonderful assembly we had this morning. Trans B took us to the South Sea Islands with their beautiful singing and grand entrance. It is always a delight to welcome parents into school to enjoy the class assemblies. This week we had a super sporting week with hockey at Staines Hockey club, cross country at The Marist and netball at Bishopsgate. Well done to Keira who came second in the cross country, an incredible result. Congratulations to the Forms 4 and 5 cross country teams who also did very well in the team group gaining two second place medals. Drama has also been a big focus here at Upton this week with the LAMDA exams taking place. We have had three examiners in school today and we are very proud of the children who performed with such confidence throughout the day. Three examiners, especially if you are aged five, could be quite daunting, but not for our boys and girls. Two examiners will be returning on Monday to complete our LAMDA exams. Well done Upton. All the girls in the cross country event at The Marist this week were placed in the top 20 out of 48 competitors. This week’s hockey match was at Staines Hockey Club with Form 3 v Staines Prep. It was a 1-1 draw with Captains Amber and Gabriella and Players of the Match Romilly and Isabelle. Today Form 4 were at Bishopsgate for a netball tournament. The girls enjoyed five games and lots of fun in the pouring rain—true Upton resilience shone through! Miss Trisha Corless The Nursery had a great time in Windsor Great Park this week as they collected sticks to build a super fire. Once the flames had died down a little we cooked bread to make honey or strawberry jam sandwiches and then we were amazed to watch some corn popping as we made popcorn! What a wonderful outdoor feast!

Wonderful performances from so many young and confident musicians in the Pre-Prep Music Assembly this week! This was the first ever concert for some of them, having only been learning their instrument for less than a term. We look forward to more in the years to come.
