If you are able to donate cakes to the House Sales on Wednesday 14th March, either homemade or bought, please remember that they must not contain, or be decorated with, any nuts or seeds of any kind. This includes poppy seeds.

Pupils from Forms 2 to 6 are invited to come and join in the annual Beetle Drive. This fast moving dice game is great fun and there are prizes to be won. The Beetle Drive will take place in the Wallace Hall on Thursday 22nd March from 4-5pm. Tickets, available from the School Office, cost £5 and include a drink and biscuits. All monies raised will be donated to this term’s charities—MacMillan Cancer Support, Children with Cancer, Plan International. Mrs Lesley Webb

The PTA had a bumper Friday last week. We raised a whopping £1400 at the Nearly New uniform sale and a further £650 at the new Cinema Club night. Thank you to everyone for your support with both these events; they were a great success and will be repeated in the future. Many parents have been asking questions as to what they could offer for our Silent Auction or the Wishing Tree for the Masquerade Ball event. The Wishing Tree will have lots of smaller gift items hanging from its branches. Examples are a blow dry, manicure, nice bottle of wine, car wash etc... items up to about £15. The Silent Auction items can either be vouchers, tickets or gifts. These items can be, for example related to sports, hotels, restaurants, spas, fashion, beauty …. or you could even go off-piste if you have something amazing and unique which you can offer like a holiday home for a weekend! If you have an interesting job maybe ….. an experience with this or a free service that your could offer. Please drop off anything to the School Office for either of the above. No prize is too big or too small. We have already received a signed Aston Villa football shirt! The Silent Auction is open to all parents, even if you are not attending the Ball—details will be sent out nearer the time. All monies raised will be shared between the school and the British Red Cross. Many thanks for your support; please ask the PTA any questions on any of the above you may have. You can email them at pta@uptonhouse.org.uk. PTA Committee

World Book Day this year was a little different from the norm. We still had some fantastic costumes, they just had the addition of hats, gloves and snow boots! The costume parade at the start of the day showed what makes Upton unique as the variety of costumes and thought that went into them was amazing. Throughout the day workshops took place for the younger ones, with Prep’s having to be postponed due to the weather. I have seen the girls and boys read a range of books and their own stories, create books, solve problems and generally have fun celebrating books in all their forms. The book exchange was a huge success with over 200 books being swapped. Well done to all the children and staff for making it such a fabulous day. Miss Jessica Smith
