Weekly Newsletter Spring 2018 Week 7 Well done Form 2R! What a wonderful assembly you gave this morning. Our class assemblies are always a delightful start to each Friday. The Pre-Prep School Council met today. They always have so many lovely ideas. Ms James joined us to share the menu for next week’s Languages Week. The children are always keen to talk about the food they would like. They gave their comments to Ms James on the Chinese New Year menu served on Wednesday. It was delicious! We loved it! They talked through the dishes on offer next week and Ms James explained that the children need to find out the translation of some of the items. We have shared the menu with you here (attached at page 3). Great fun! Well done to the netball teams who played against Long Close this week— Form 4 (drew 1-1), Form 5 (won 3-1) and Form 6 (won 11-0). Fantastic results for all teams and very well played. It was a pleasure for Form 4 to go to Long Close on Tuesday and for us to welcome Long Close to Upton on Wednesday. We are very much looking forward to Movie Night this evening. A big thank you to the PTA for organising this event for the children.

PTA News The Pub Quiz is only three weeks away (16th March, 7.30pm) so please make sure you have secured your tables and booked your tickets via our website www.uptonhouse.org.uk (Parents/Parents’Area/ OnlinePayments) reference ‘Pub Quiz’. Tickets are £15 each, to include supper. Pre-Nursery and Nursery enjoyed celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Dog as they experimented with moving to Chinese music using scarves and ribbons to extend their movements. They then joined into groups to move in different directions and had fun taking turns under the dragon!! Sue Bish
This term, St Christopher have chosen to raise money for Children with Cancer and St George are supporting MacMillan Cancer Support. St Andrew want to help Plan International, a charity that matches children in fifty countries around the world with a sponsor who will fund their education. As a school we love this idea and we have decided to make a long-term commitment to this and sponsor a girl overseas throughout her education. We will be able to correspond with the child that we sponsor and get to know her over the next few years; we are very excited about this. The charity fundraising House Sales will be on Wednesday 14 th March. We would be grateful for donations of items in good condition e.g. toys, games, puzzles, DVDs (U, suitable for all, only please) and books. Emily O + Tara Form 6, Charity Reps Upton House School 1
