Weekly Newsletter Spring 2018 Week 10 A five week half term certainly is a busy one! We have had an incredible week here at Upton House with so many wonderful events including the Nursery Pedal Push, Prep swimming gala, Prep musical soirée and the Grandparents’ Afternoon Tea. The Nursery children pedalled non-stop on Wednesday for a very good cause. Well done children. They gave their all, as did the Prep girls at the swimming gala. St Andrew put in the most inspiring effort, St Christopher came a close second and St George celebrated a muchdeserved win. We are very proud of you all girls. Thank you Miss Corless, Mrs Crossland and Mrs Beattie for a marvellous event. The Form 6 auditions have started for our end of year production Beauty and the Beast. Next term we will begin the rehearsal which will involve all children from Form 1 upwards. The end of year productions at Upton are wonderful. Miss Duncan, Mr Buck and Ms Fonfe will be working with the children as we move towards the first performance on26th June. Well done Forms 3 and girls for super play and results at the Bishopsgate netball tournaments this week. You all played so well. We cannot believe next week is our last week. There is still much to look forward, including a Form 2 rugby tournament on Monday, Form 6 netball tournament on Wednesday, our annual Easter bonnet parade on Thursday and our end of term Easter Assembly on Friday led by Forms 3 and 4. Finally, a very big thank you to Miss Young and Mr and Mrs Maskell-Smith and all involved in organising tonight’s Upton Quiz. It will be a brilliant evening. Mrs Rhian Thornton HUGE congratulations to all our Form 6 girls on their outstanding academic achievements. They have been offered fantastic admission offers to their next schools including eight scholarships/exhibitions We are incredibly proud of all of you. Well done Form 6!
A team of Form 2 Uptonians travelled to compete against 15 other schools in Mrs Sue Bish Elstree School’s football tournament. The children had to work their way through four group matches, finishing second in the group with one narrow loss. They finished in 5th place overall, concluding the day with a nail biting penalty shootout. Upton were the only team on the day to beat the eventual winners, sneaking a controversial 1-0 win in the group stages! An honorary mention to Ruby who was Upton’s top goal scorer on the day. Mr Thomas Brown
Form 1 pupils invited their grandparents into school for the Grandparents’ Tea Party. It was a magical afternoon and grandparents travelled from as far afield as China and Brazil to be with us. The tea party and variety show included songs, poetry and the most beautiful paintings of the grandparents, as seen through the eyes of their grandchildren. Mr Craig McEvoy Upton House School 1
