Weekly Newsletter Spring 2018 Week 1 Welcome to the Spring Term 2018, our theme this term is Happiness. Please would you note the following changes to your little blue calendar: Monday 19th February: Form 2 (selected) Tag Rugby Festival at Papplewick * Tuesday 27th February: Form 3 will visit the Barbican Centre Thursday 1st March: There will be NO swimming for Forms 4, 5 and 6 (as we will be dressing up for World Book day) Last term, Form 6 led a whole school vote to choose which endangered animal Upton House would like to sponsor this year. The winner was Sea Turtles. January 22nd to 26th will be our Sea Turtle Week when Pre-Nursery to Form 6 will be learning facts about these endangered creatures and each class will have pictures of sea turtles that we would like to cover, with your help, in coins. Please would you send in your loose change to put onto the pictures (current British coins only please). We will let you know how many turtles we have managed to cover in coins at the end of the week. Thank you for your support. Tara & Emily O, Form 6 Charity Reps
Please ensure the School Office are advised immediately if there are any changes in your address or contact details e.g. home phone, mobiles, email. It is important that your child’s medical and dietary details are up to date too. You can check what details we hold for your child with the School Office and/or report any updates to them. It was lovely to welcome all the children back to school after the Christmas holidays. We are very much looking forward to the term ahead. Rhian Thornton
First day back and Form 4 were already on a very special adventure! In the morning the girls visited the British Museum where they explored the Ancient Egyptians‘ exhibition and saw many larger than life artefacts, including the Rosetta Stone. They were challenged to investigate various aspects of ancient Egyptian culture and learnt about common symbols, materials, amulets, animals and mummification. After a short walk and lots of blue plaque spotting, they arrived at the British Library and entered the World of Harry Potter. They took part in different classes that Harry and his friends did at Hogwarts. They saw how magic has changed throughout history and even saw original texts and notes that offered J. K. Rowling her inspiration. Miss Sarah Smith
