Weekly Newsletter Autumn 2018 Week 5 We are absolutely delighted to be appearing on the educational section (green squares) of the Royal Windsor Monopoly board! We had a special assembly this afternoon where we announced the news to the whole school and Mr Monopoly himself came along too to the meet the children. It was our pupils who put the bid together in the Spring this year and presented it to the Monopoly team so all credit to the children. The bid covered areas such as our history and heritage in Windsor and our involvement in community life, for example performing at the Windsor Festival, supporting local charities such as Foodshare and Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, working with the local Police for school and road safety and visiting members of Age Concern at the Spencer Denney Centre. We are humbled to be appearing on the board alongside some wonderful local charities such as the Windsor Street Angels, Thames Valley Hospice and Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice. Board games such as Monopoly represent great benefits for family life and mental health of our children as well giving the opportunity for families to connect and spend time together. Monopoly also has so many educational benefits such as maths, logic, reasoning, entrepreneurial and social skills, negotiation skills and risk-taking. We are delighted to be associated with a game which supports our curriculum and teaching at Upton in so many ways. We are raffling two Windsor Monopoly games and the lucky winner will each take one game home on Friday 19th October. Tickets cost £2 each and are available from the School Office now. All the proceeds will go to the Alexander Devine charity.
