Weekly Newsletter Autumn 2018 Week 2 Childnet Internet Safety Day Parent Session Monday 14th September at 4.15-5.15pm With technology developing at such a fast rate and the content on the internet expanding quicker than ever before, the best ways of keeping our children safe when they use the internet are a continually changing challenge. Childnet are visiting Upton to offer parents tips and support on a range of issues such as cyberbullying, parental controls on games and apps and much more. We would love to see as many of our parents at the meeting as possible and a crèche will be available for the duration of the session; please email the School Office—info@uptonhouse.org.uk if you would like your child to use this option. Mrs Marcia Strong Congratulations Form 6 on your new roles and responsibilities. I am very much looking forward to working with our new Head Girl, Annie and Deputy Head Girl, Imogen and all the girls in their important roles. It was lovely to see and feel the team spirit amongst the girls this morning. We have many opportunities planned for them this year as they fulfil their roles.
We are pleased to advise you of the following opening mornings: Pangbourne College, Saturday 13th October Luckley House, Saturday 29th September, 9am In celebration of Miss Smith's Dream Jars & Roald Dahl anniversary "We are all different but there's something kind of fantastic about that, isn't there?"

HALLOWEEN FANCY DRESS DISCO Visiting Nursery each Thursday morning is an absolute delight and a wonderful Assembly and start to the morning for me. Last week we shared The Room on the Broom and this week The Gruffalo. It is a special time for me to share with our younger children. Our Assembly theme this term is initiative and the Prep girls and Pre-Prep children should be able to tell you about Lewis Pugh and Boyan Slat and how they are using their initiative to reduce the amount of plastic in the oceans. Initiative is a strong theme this term and we would love to share any examples of your children using their initiative outside school. For example Gracie in F6 wrote to the Prime Minister to save the rainforests and had an official response from No. 10! The sunflower competition and a visit by Savills started our week and our wonderful Roald Dahl trail finished the week on a high note, with over 100 jars on display. Well done Miss Smith! The tents are up, the girls are excited and Form 3 have already had much fun with today with their teambuilding activities led by Rich Adventure. What a wonderful way to start our term.
