Come and see what God looks like through the eyes of our brothers and sisters in Mexico. Learn more about each group at: UPPC.org/cornerstone UPPC.org/therock UPPC.org/foundation UPPC.org/children Over the past few years I have used RightNow Media videos for my lessons at Wednesday Night Campfire. The creators of VeggieTales have made four series that go through 1 John, Ephesians, Philippians and 1 Peter. These videos pack in a lot of Biblical teaching in a fun and entertaining way. The kids are learning so much and having a great time in the process. - Julie Mangrum

CONFIRMATION COMING IN MARCH

Confirmation is a membership class available to students in grades 8-12. We believe kids and their voices are as vital to the life of the church as every other age group. This class will explore faith on a deeper level, look at what distinguishes our denomination from others, dig into why sacraments are meaningful, and discuss the mission of UPPC and how kids can be an active part of that mission. Upon completing Confirmation, kids will have the opportunity to be baptized (if they haven’t already been) and be accepted as official members of UPPC.

Youth & Children

Family Sacrament Experience March 13 & 20 | 11am-12pm | Grades 1-4 In this workshop, children and their parents will explore the meaning and traditions of baptism and communion, and they will be given the opportunity to participate in the sacraments at the end of the workshop.

Lent & Easter at UPPC

In the daily round of life, dust and cobwebs accumulate in our souls. The hidden corners of our hearts become encrusted with grime or filled with forgotten debris. During the weeks of Lent, God’s Spirit is given opportunity to clear away the clutter, sweep away the dust and wash us clean. We are invited to prepare ourselves…heart, soul, mind and body for the new life of Easter. – - Marlene Kropf, Assoc. Professor Emerita in Spiritual Formation and Worship

Ash Wednesday Wednesday March 2 Ash Wednesday is a time when we can throw away all the “junk” that burdens our lives. It is both an individual and a collective cleansing of the past. We can begin anew with a clean slate: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit with me.” Join us for a service of cleansing and renewal. 40 Days of Forgiveness March 2-April 17 This Lent we are focusing on forgiveness - of others, of our selves. We will be sending regular emails of encouragement as you journey through your own process of forgiveness. Emails will include songs, meditations, prayers and poems. Be sure to look for these in March! Maundy Thursday Thursday April 14 Jesus’ final meal with his disciples was the first communion. At this service, we remember his commandment to gather and take communion in rememberance of Him.

Good Friday Friday April 15 Good Friday is the day that Jesus died on the cross. We mark this remembrance with a Tenebrae service. This service follows a tradition of the Church dating back to the seventh century. From Latin the word Tenebrae means “darkness” and commemorates the final hours of our Lord’s life on earth, as he suffered death upon the cross. As the candles are extinguished, they symbolize the fading loyalty of the disciples and friends of Jesus. The gradual darkening of the church portrays the diminishing light of the world as Christ was departing from it. Join us for this meaningful remembrance.

Easter Sunday Sunday April 17 On Easter Sunday we celebrate our Risen Savior! Invite your friends and family to join you in celebrating Jesus’ resurrection!
