“Malasakit” to unify objectives & actions - PDLC “Sa susunod na anim na taon na ating pagsasamahan, malasakit ang magbibigay bigkis at buhay sa lahat ng ating layunin, sa lahat ng ating mga kilos, at sa lahat ng ating mga galaw.” (“In the next six years that we will be together, compassion will unite and give life to all our objectives and all our actions.”) Thus did President Danilo L. Concepcion (PDLC) characterize his presidency in his acceptance speech as 21st president of UP on Feb. 10. President Concepcion’s speech followed the ceremonial turnover of the UP presidency from Dr. Alfredo E. Pascual to the former at the lobby of Quezon Hall in UP Diliman (UPD). He restated UP’s mission as “honor and excellence with compassion.” He also said that he accepted the challenges that the University is facing with the procurement system, quality of academic programs, faculty development, tenure, health care, facilities modernization, employee compensation, and scholarships. In 2000-2002, the law professor and practitioner served as De La Salle Araneta University (DLSAU) president. In February 2011, he was named UP vice president for legal affairs.
