About Us Uttar Pradesh, one of the largest states of India, happens to be the face of modern and traditional India at the same time. While making rapid developmental strides on indices of infrastructure, agriculture, education and tourism and ensuring availability of modern amenities to all villages, towns and cities of the state, the government has taken special care to support and nurture the wellbeing of its rural artisans, crafts-persons and weavers. Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Shahjahanpur and Agra are some of renowned centres of excellence in the art of carpet weaving. About 80% of woollen carpets exported from India are proudly woven in Uttar Pradesh. Gangotri, U P Govt Emporium at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Connaught Place, New Delhi is your destination if you wish to look at some of the most breathtakingly beautiful handmade carpets that are made of silk and wool. Besides carpets, we have a fabulous array of cotton and woollen durries, kilims and shaggys. The emporium stocks about 500 carpets and durries at any point in time and the sizes available are from 3x2 feet to 12x9 feet, rounds (circular carpets) and runners / corridor carpets. The emporium also specializes in making customized carpets in odd and extra large sizes. Gangotri, U P Govt Emporium is the only state emporium offering readily available carpets in regular sizes as also in extra large sizes (such as 14x10 feet, 15x12 feet and 18x12 feet) to Indian Missions and Posts abroad. The emporium, therefore, supplies its carpets the fastest following receipt of a supply order.
