Allyson Armstrong, PT PT Class of 2015

"Since graduating I have spent much of my career working in the MICU at the Veterans Health Administration in Salt Lake City. I then became a Board-Certified Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy. This has allowed me to share knowledge of geriatric specific care with the many students who spend time at the VA. This specialty knowledge also inspired me to present in a COPD course that happens at the VA once a month, instructing Veterans how to safely exercise with COPD. In 2019 I was awarded UPTAs Physical therapist of the Year. This year I have become the lead physical therapist on the inpatient COVID team at the VA. I love being a physical therapist and serving our countries Veterans!"

Austin Yapias, ATC, LAT AT Class of 2019

"After graduation, I started a one-year internship with Intermountain Healthcare at Dixie State University as an entry-level intern athletic trainer working primarily with men ' s and women ' s soccer. I also helped with home football games and football fall camp. From there I accepted a Graduate Assistantship at Montana State University where I am now pursuing my Master of Education with an emphasis in Adult & Higher Education. I am currently working primarily with football.

One interesting opportunity I have been able to take a part of is being on the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Athletic Committee within the department of athletics at Montana State University. Furthermore, I have steered my master ' s research towards diversity, equity, and inclusion within athletics. I do this to provide a voice for our sports medicine staff in addition to creating a holistic and positive experience for our studentathletes. Being a part of this DEI Athletic Committee has allowed me to extend myself in contributing to a much-needed topic within athletics in our country. "
