BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Through state-of-the-art classrooms and clinics, as well as handson community engagement opportunities, you are prepared for the future with the knowledge and skills to be excellent oral health care professionals.
Clinical Experiences
Clinical rotations begin in the spring of junior year, rotating students through different clinical experiences and specialties such as pediatrics or special needs dentistry.
Community Externships
» Take place over four weeks in senior year, typically in a private practice, working as a hygienist.
» Offer an opportunity to learn what it is like to be in the field with future colleagues.
» Placement decided by faculty using their connections in the community.
» Provide preparation for boards and licensure, which the school helps to facilitate at the end of your college career.
» Built into the curriculum for the April right before graduation, allowing preparation for boards and licensure.
A lot of our patients are very long-term patients where we see them every six months, so we also develop relationships with them. They actually give feedback to our students, too, which is great to have that patient perspective on your clinical training.
