Connected to Industry

Lang student organizations provide “outside the classroom” learning opportunities for students to enhance their leadership abilities and professional development. Lang’s Business Career Development Centre connects hiring companies with top talent from Lang through case competitions, networking events and workshops.

Below is just a sample of the organizations that have engaged with Lang Commerce students:

KPMG

Each fall, executives from the accounting firm KPMG come to Lang to network and run academic challenges to test the skills of Lang accounting students and to recruit top talent. This annual event is part of a multi-year gift to support transformational learning opportunities for students at Lang.

Fidelity Investments

Fidelity Investments Canada sponsors a student organization called the Guelph Student Investment Council, which provides an incredible experiential learning opportunity for Lang students. The student organization takes $100,000 of seed investment and, with council from expert finance professors at Lang, invests the funding into stocks in the TSX and other major exchanges. Fidelity also sponsors multiple scholarships for finance students, including one which supports female-identified students in the program.
