Student Services would like to start by thanking you for your willingness to undertake this role. This is not an easy undertaking and we appreciate you all. The guide has been produced by Student Services with input from a variety of internal and external teams including Wellbeing and Mental Health, Financial Support, the Proctor’s Office, and Residential Living.

This handbook is designed to support SVLOs in their role. The guide is designed to be used online with clickable links to valuable resources.

As well as offering useful guidance that you should employ when working with students, it also makes clear the boundaries between staff and student interactions and when and who to refer certain information to.

The guide also contains details of the support that we will offer you. Please always remember that you are not alone.

The guide cannot document every eventuality or scenario that you may encounter, but hopefully it provides a clear process. If you are in any doubt please always ask one of the team for advice.

We welcome feedback from you about this guide and will endeavour to update it every year with new information, contacts and processes.
