Co-president’s

AddresS Starting at the beginning of the year, we had big shoes to fill and even bigger goals to achieve. Lucy and Nicky as co-founders of DigiSoc, had left a large legacy for us to carry. Whilst it seemed nearly impossible for us to accomplish so much in the same time that they did, we quickly realised that it wasn’t our individual efforts that made up the society - but the strength of the team that allowed us to achieve more. From a small society that began in 2019, our exponential growth in 2020 and again in 2021 has allowed us to establish DigiSoc with a professional image and a strong positioning within UNSW’s network of student societies. Our results were only possible through the contribution of every single person. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your hard work.

Our time with DigiSoc is an unforgettable one with highs and lows, and we’d love to share some of the things we learnt along the way Even when things don’t turn out just the way that you wanted, just trust in yourself and your team - it will never steer you the wrong way It’s perfectly normal to fail for the first time. However, don't keep on repeating mistakes while expecting a different outcome. Learn from it If life throws you lemons, make lemonade. It’s all about the perspective - hardships are often blessings in disguise Have fun with everything you do! We’re still young and navigating this crazy world so might as well make the most out of it doing fun and meaningful shit.

And now seeing members in our society stepping up to new executive roles (in and outside of DigiSoc), it makes us proud and confident that the next generation of DigiSoc executives will foster an amazing community for students. Never forget your roots that make up who you are as a person, and continue to impact lives one at a time. We’ve walked in and left our footprint on 2021. See you all on the other side!

Emily Creating DigiHub and running it for 3 terms. Digital week. Roadtrip.

Zenne The highlight during my time at DigiSoc was without a doubt the people. I was greatly humbled by the countless talented and bright individuals who I had such a pleasure working alongside with. I could not have asked for a better team and DigiSoc family for 2021

Cheryl The success of a society is determined not by the number of events it holds, but by the people that make it all possible. Digisoc has no shortage of wonderful, talented individuals and I'm incredibly grateful that I got to work with such a motivated group of students over the past two years.

EDUCATION

Viro I used to question society’s testimonials whether it was true and now that I’ve gone through the journey with DigiSoc myself, I can only say the exact same thing. The most rewarding experience to grow and learn alongside the education team!

Marco The first social with my portfolio - a wholesome boulder session despite raining cats & dogs outside. The roadtrip was also a blast, everyone was built different with all those presidential toasts.

Jessica

Emily

I enjoyed interviewing product designers and managers for our DigiDive podcast. Organising our Accessibility in Design event with Google was really fun as we got to invite speakers from the U.S. I also enjoyed bouldering and hanging out with the Edu team!

Albert

Kirat

I have so many great memories at DigiSoc with it being the first university club I joined, but most importantly, the biggest highlight was the amazing directors and subcomms who taught me everything about societies (i.e. how to write captions xD). It was also fun to make some great mates to work on assignments, eat out, and joke around with.

DigiSoc has been such a great experience for me, with it being my first society experience despite being an old fourth year :)) . Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly and I've built some great friendships :). Highlights include road trip and seeing the morning sunsets with the gvng.

I’ve been in DigiSoc since its first year and it has been amazing to see how much we’ve grown and how far we've come since the beginning. My highlight reel is full of my memories of hanging out with everyone both working on DigiSoc stuff and during bonding <3

I’m glad that I got to meet so many other like-minded people here in DigiSoc this year. I learnt a lot from everyone in the team and also was able to get more involved with the design world which is what I wanted. P.s. we’ll always be Zenne’s minions!

DigiSoc has been a fantastic experience over the past two years that I’ve been involved. It’s been so rewarding to see the team grow and be able to learn from each other.

DIGITAL

It was really fun meeting my portfolio in person at induction night and its been super interesting learning how to use Figma and design CPs this year! It used to be something I just wished I was good enough to do so now I feel super proud to have learnt so much :)

Max As a digital subcom, I grew more confidence in myself and my work, received opportunities to design content, participate in projects, learnt in depth about ux design and receive feedback from many different people from internal members and professional mentors. Other than how it benefited me, I met great people who were pursuing the same goals as I am, it was great to learn from each and every one of them. The opportunities like these are hard to receive and I am forever grateful for this experience during university.

MARKETING Holly If I had to pinpoint some Digi highlights, they would be meeting and learning from my co-director and subcommittee members. Every day I learn something new and no two days are the same!

Chrystal.. I had a lot of fun at induction meeting everyone for the first time and playing bingo. Meeting up with everyone and having kbbq that one time was really cool too. Despite lockdown, I really enjoyed participating in the Digilympics!!

David

Delwyn Being in Marketing has given me the opportunity to explore my creative outlet further including developing marketing strategies, writing a blog and learning new design skills and tools. I have also learnt a lot about the digital industry, allowing me to gain a clearer understanding of my future. I'm extremely grateful for my experience at DigiSoc and the amazing group of dedicated people who were always there to support me.

Ashley Learning more about the digital space alongside the friendly members of DigiSoc, gaining skills I otherwise would not have acquired. Cross portfolio outings were also particularly fun

Anthony

Roadtrip and Presidential everything

Joanna Getting to know everyone at DigiSoc, playing secret hitler/avalon/ mafia at roadtrip and late night d&ms on discord :-)))))

Andrew I had plenty of fond memories at DigiSoc, notably during road trip when Zenne was amazed by pretty much everything in Alan's car. As an IT director, coding up my own codirector (DigiBot), vibing with my amazing subcom and seeing several big ideas come to life was also very satisfying :)

Ryan DigiSoc has been one of the most colourful and enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had. This year has been filled with opportunities and memories from meeting new friends, struggling together with my fellow subcom members through website development, and above all, IT’s unforgettable Figma Jam session.

IT

Meeting Andrew, Asha & Ryan.

Asha

Being pranked into thinking I was gonna be a DigiSoc band conductor, late night discord calls with the IT fam and Serena’s astrology analysis over a random voice call. My ultimate highlight is the opportunity I got to know the kind, vibrant personalities that weave the fabric of the DigiSoc community, which I am so proud I could be a part of.

Jarivs

Jasen The highlight was definitely starting the legacy of the presidential chug with Alan and Anthony at RoadTrip, which was followed by directorial and subcommittean chugs (Hope this legacy continues). I will also never forget getting kicked out of Noodle King for screaming DI-GISOC with the oizzz. Cheers for the memories <3 Till we meet again at the next presidential gathering.

Hosting digital week this term. Hang out with a lot of students outside of my faculty.
