DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: This position is located in the Medical Service Division within DM/OHRM. The Coordination / Communcations Officer reports to the Deputy Medical Director.
The Coordination / Communications Officer will provide overall professional support on strategic, policy, operational and administrative matters, ensuring timeliness, effective communication and quality outcome. The responsibilities will include the following duties: • Coordinates and collects information from UN departments, funds and agencies on Ebola, and liaising with client offices as required. • Drafts briefing documents and presentations for Senior Management on Ebola issues. • Drafts material for communications products, such as guidance notes and FAQs. • Develops strategic partnerships with different parts of the UN System to ensure smooth internal communications on Ebola issues; • Provides advice and expertise to managers and other staff on Ebola communications matters; • Maintains regular liaison with field public information offices working on Ebola, ensuring supply of updated material and consistent messaging; • Prepares or oversees preparation of a range of communications products in support of internal Ebola campaign initiatives; • Manages materials for print/electronic/visual media; Makes presentations to groups on UN Ebola activities and advocates issues of concern; • Ensure that daily media monitoring products on Ebola are available to the managers in the office.
