Org .Setting And Reporting This position is located in the Non-Governmental Organizations Branch of the Director of the Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination, Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The Chief of Branch reports directly to the Director of the Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination. Responsibilities Under the leadership and management of the Director of the Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination, the Chief of the Non-governmental Organizations Branch carries out the following:1. Manages and oversees Service staff including interns and volunteers, in the accreditation of nongovernmental organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC, as well as the registration process of the various preparatory committees for special sessions of the General Assembly and international conferences. Develops the priorities and work-plan for the NGO Service and supervises its implementation. Ensures implementation of the PAS procedures for the yearly staff performance and assumes full responsibility for the Administration of the NGO Service;2. Supervises the preparation of the NGO Committee's reports to ECOSOC and follows up on decisions of ECOSOC on those reports. Monitors and ensures follow-up action on decisions and recommendations of the Committee;3. Monitors and reports on the performance, activities and conduct of NGOs in relation to their ECOSOC obligations, follows up reports concerning NGOs in status who are alleged to have committed violations of the UN Charter, engaged in politically motivated actions against Member States, or misrepresented their status, involving high-level politically sensitive consultations with member government representatives, the Chairperson of the NGO Committee and ECOSOC, senior diplomats, the Chief of Security, legal and protocol officers, as well as senior officials of the Secretariat concerned by issues of NGO performance. 4. Plans, organizes and manages the analysis of NGOs in general and special consultative stains according to their objectives, interests, activities and geographic location to assist in the creation of groups of similar orientation to form coalitions for the purpose of consultation with the Council as provided in paragraph 9 of Council resolution 1996/31. Analyses and makes recommendations to the Committee on NGOs regarding NGOs on the Roster that no longer fulfil the conditions
