Cuentos Bookseller is a local bookstore located in Las Vegas. Our bookstore also has an adjoining cafe with an array of drinks and snacks. Our bookstore is catered to people of all age groups and literary preferences. We want to create a community where all people feel welcome and comfortable to browse around and relax with a drink and pastry at hand.

Our main goal with this business is to create a bookstore that relies on theme and ambiance; to create an ultimate book shopping experience for readers and non-readers alike. We strive to evoke this feeling by focusing our businesses theme on the cottage-core aesthetic.

design overview

Our brand’s goal is to evoke a warmth and friendly atmosphere. We want to make sure that our business design is reminiscent of traditional bookstores while also branching out into something new and modern. Through our typefaces, color palettes, and hand-drawn assets, we strive to emulate these humble, traditional, and modern aesthetics. Within our hand-drawn assets and imagery, we try to stick with images that relate to the cottage-core aesthetic by using icons like mushrooms, leaves, and books.

BASIC ELEMENTS

The color palette chosen for cuentos leaned heavily on more warm and earthy tones. Our colors were chosen to represent the cottage-core theme that our store is trying to emulate. We wanted colors that felt down to earth, humble, and welcoming.

Democratia OT is the typeface used within the logo. It was chosen as a way of tying in the more traditional aesthetics. It is not used frequently throughout our design as a means of keeping its usage within the logo more iconic.

Greycliff CF is the typeface that is most primarily used throughout the designs. Its wide array of fonts within its font family allows for differnent use of emphasis throughout the designs.

When creating the logo symbol for our business, we wanted to create something that blends the themes we want represented.

1. The books are meant to tie in the fact that this is a book store, it adds some relevancy to the genre of business.

2. The mushrooms are symbols that tie in the cottagecore aesthetic that our bookstore encompasses.

By combining both, we establish a cottage-core themed bookstore.

this is the navigation bar that allows for easy access and navigation throughout the website this is a banner and slideshow that displays the highlights of the website. The first slide displayed here shows the upcoming bookclub event within the store.

here we have one of two carousels that are present within the homepage of the website. We have displayed a bestsellers list as well as staff picks to show that our business values both what the consumers like as well as our employees.

we have decided to make navigation even simpler by showcasing a calendar marked with upcoming bookstore events. Alongside the calendar, we have a more detailed list that goes into depth about each event going on during said day.

the footer includes more information about our business; location, hours, and contact info. We also have displyed our social media and the option to learn more about us.
