Burlington, Vermont

Study in Burlington, Vermont–one of the safest cities in the U.S., surrounded by lakes, mountains, and year-round outdoor adventure. Our city perennially appears on national rankings that praise its livability, access to nature and recreation (including the best skiing in the northeast), thriving food and music scenes, rising identity as a technology hub, and its status as a top college town.

UVM: A Launchpad for Global Scholars

Globally Recognized Academics

a student from Kazakhstan, found it all in her first year, from becoming involved in undergraduate research as a molecular genetics major, to receiving a leadership award from her on-campus job.

“The opportunity to come to UVM was more than life-changing for me. My classes offered a lot of room for growth, and professors were very supportive in my learning journey. I decided to go beyond the curriculum and…was offered a position at an immunology and genetics lab.”

UVM is a Top 100 U.S. Public Research University and an R1 institution. Learning happens everywhere at UVM—on the summits of the Green Mountains; at our oncampus medical center; aboard our research vessel; at our four research farms; alongside scientists in our nationally-funded laboratories. The future demands committed, brave leaders in every sector. Catamounts are biologists and painters, physicians and farmers, CEOs and teachers—people in every field with the courage, vision, global mindset, and ambition to effect lasting change.

A Community with No Borders

Soham, an international student from Mumbai, India, came to UVM to study wildlife biology, be close to nature, and find adventure. During his time at UVM, he did just that experiencing everything from skiing in the Green Mountains to studying big cats in Kenya’s Massai Mara grasslands.
