MA PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT FOR TV, FILM AND DIGITAL MEDIA
SOPHIE (2021 GRADUATE) IS NOW A PRODUCTION MANAGER FOR STUDIO 68
“Whilst completing my MA in 2021, I was working as an intern at a small online media production company (Studio68). Because of my ability to apply media management knowledge to the studio, I was then kept on full-time as junior production manager, where I organised and coordinated some really exciting shoots with companies such as FIFA, FIVE: presented by Rio Ferdinand and Stretford Paddock FC match day content.
If it weren’t for the budgeting, scheduling, and overall media and risk awareness I learnt in this master’s, I don’t think I would be where I am now. I recently referred to some of the presentations from my first module for a reminder on Copyright and working in a hostile environment.”
CLAUDIA (2021 GRADUATE) IS NOW A PRODUCTION COORDINATOR FOR BBC SPORT
“Joining the University of Salford was the best choice for me coming from abroad. Its amazing location provided extra work opportunities by having a campus in the heart of MediaCity, which helped me have the job I have today. The fact that we have lecturers that are still part of the workforce brings us to live problems and situations that will better prepare us.”
FINLAY (2021 GRADUATE) IS NOW A PRODUCTION COORDINATOR FOR TRUE NORTH
“I’m currently a Production Coordinator at True North Productions working in factual TV. The MA was a great introduction to the world of Production Management, it taught me many of the processes and systems which I now use on a day-to-day basis.
The factual module especially was incredibly thorough in breaking down all the key elements that go into making a TV programme and making them easy to understand. Throughout the course I was able to develop a variety of production skills and draw on the expertise of people from across the industry.”
TOLULOPE (2022 GRADUATE) IS NOW A PRODUCTION SECRETARY FOR CHANNEL 4 SERIES Find
“I learned how the role of a project manager can be executed for the different types of productions. My favourite was Line Producing as I got to learn, for the first time, how to use Movie Magic programmes for budgeting and scheduling.
My current role is ‘Production Secretary’ for a brand new and exciting design TV show which will air on Channel 4, and in the next few months I hope to move up to a Junior production Coordinator role.”

Perelandra Beedles has worked extensively as a Television Producer and Production Manager and alongside her work as programme Leader, she is working on an educational doctorate project studying the use of reflection and reflexivity within Television Production Management Education.
“My interest in Production Management began when I was trained as the youngest female network director at the BBC, directing shows including the National Lottery, and Breakfast News, and being part of the launch team for the corporation’s first digital platform BBC3. I absolutely loved the excitement of live television and working as part of a crew.
Once bitten by the TV bug, I worked as a senior producer across ITV’s Lifestyle department and became fascinated with the management of production, a fascination which led to my becoming Production Manager for Sony Europe’s Film and Television department.
Turning paperwork and pitches into TV shows is, to my mind, nothing short of magic, and at the heart of this alchemy stands the Production Manager, a position which is now recognised by BAFTA for its essential contribution to production.
As a discipline, Production Management demands equal parts creativity, business acumen and mental agility and it is this complexity which makes it such a fascinating role to me, a role which I now thoroughly enjoy helping my students step into through my work at Salford.”
