MA FASHION DESIGN

Are you ready to master creative technical skills and innovative design thinking in a state of the art, professional studio setting? Our MA Fashion Design is an intensive, specialist programme that will give you the tools to explore and refine your identity as a fashion design practitioner and entrepreneur.

YOU WILL:

/ Get the opportunity to produce and showcase your final collection during New York or London Fashion Week

/ Hear from international guest speakers and practitioners to prepare you for a new era of fashion business - previous speakers include Adidas Collaborations (Germany), Liberty London, H&M (Sweden) and more / Study a course which has consistently gotten excellent student feedback and satisfaction for over ten years. This includes an overall student satisfaction score of 97% (Unistats in 2020)

/ Develop autonomy and entrepreneurship in the study of either menswear, womenswear or non-binary apparel

/ Be able to source materials internationally including opportunities in Paris and China

/ Become a confident, resourceful, and creative fashion practitioner with a clear understanding of contemporary fashion contexts

/ Graduate with an industry-ready, professional portfolio and with the entrepreneurial skills to start your own fashion label or work in the industry in a wide range of roles.

MEET YOUR TEACHING STAFF

Our teaching staff have extensive and varied experience working in the fashion industry in a variety of roles. You will be taught by staff who have worked for Louis Vuitton and Versace, or won important competitions/exhibitions at the Victoria and Albert museum in London, or developed their own fashion brand. / Creative Research and Fashion Practice

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY.

/ A relevant undergraduate degree, normally at 2:1 or above

/ A personal statement. This should cover: what motivates you, what experience/involvement you have in fashion design; what musicians and organisations inspire you; why you want to work in fashion; why do you want to study at Salford; and what makes this course right for you?

/ IELTS 6.5 with no element below 5.5

A COMPREHENSIVE PORTFOLIO OF WORK (AT LEAST 30 PAGES) DEMONSTRATING:

/ Hand Drawing (this can be of any type, media and subject)

/ Fashion Illustration and design drawing of apparel and fashion related products

/ CAD demonstrating flat technical drawing skill via Adobe AI or similar

/ Sketchbook work showcasing thought and design process

/ Photographic evidence of garments produced via styled shoots on models

/ Any other interesting work undertaken demonstrating key skills appropriate to this application, this can include written, textiles, print, craft, photographic or any other work applicant deem worthy of sharing including film or show link etc.
