We Welcome Those who are Called to Create Change. The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program fuses theoretical frameworks and clinical experiences of mental health counselors with a fully integrated social justice curriculum to produce well-rounded mental health practitioners with a holistic view of the socio-cultural influences on human mental health. From the first week, students work under supervision to provide services to underserved populations. The program is also distinctive in its focus on the development of multicultural competencies. These and other curricular experiences ensure that program graduates employ a social justice perspective and deliver effective clinical services informed by research.

Program Highlights Students are trained by faculty who are contributing to the literature they study and influencing regional, national, and international conversations about counseling and counselor training Counselors gain pre-practicum experience in clinical settings during their first year The partnership with Riverside Free Clinic allow students to work with at-risk populations using evidence-based approaches Students have the opportunity to learn about counseling in a global context in another country Students are prepared for California licensure as Associate Professional Clinical Counselors (APCC) and Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFT) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences and qualify for licensure eligibility in most other states
