Your future Supporting you to become employable is right at the heart of our courses. We know you’re coming to university to study your chosen subject, meet new people and broaden your horizons. However, we also help you to focus on life after you have graduated to ensure that your hard work pays off and you achieve your ambition. Previous politics graduates have gone on to work in formal or electoral politics, education, the media, human resources, marketing, business and finance in organisations including, House of Commons, Engaging Education, the Department for Work and Pensions, Kirklees College, Freshwater UK, Tameside Council, and X4 Technology.* “The lecturers were compelling and helpful, and the option choices were varied which gave me a different outlook on the course. I completed a work placement with a local MP which has been vital in my career. It gave me insight into the political work and was a key reason for getting the job I currently have. I’ve also used my research and analytical skills which were a vital part of my course.” Charlie Rainsford graduated from Politics BSc(Hons) in 2014 and is now a Parliamentary Assistant for Jack Dromey MP

“I would not be in my current job, loving the work I am doing, if it were not for the University helping me every step of the way. My work placement as a constituency support intern for a local MP gave me a distinctive set of skills which was crucial in me being accepted for my graduate job at iNetwork. My placement enabled me to hone my political communication skills and my knowledge of the local public sector. It gave me the confidence that I was a skilled and employable person who could turn up for work every day and make a positive impact” Louis Stockwell graduated from International Politics BSc(Hons) in 2015 and is now a Stakeholder Engagement Manager for iNetwork

“The support and encouragement from lecturers were second to none, the course was very engaging with plenty of time to debate and facilitated a variety of different learning styles. My work placement at a local charity and community group gave me a head start in my career. It helped me understand the challenges faced by diverse communities, and I’ve been able to use a lot of my learning in the community I now represent as a councillor” Nosheen Dad graduated from Politics BSc(Hons) in 2012 and is now a Local Councillor
