Your course This course reflects the rapid developments in the media, creative and cultural sectors, placing digital, social and participatory cultures at its heart. Taught by professional and academic staff who are at the cutting edge of their fields, it is concerned with what the media looks like today, but also its potential and futures.

At the core of our course is a simple philosophy: working in the media requires us to be thinkers, makers and creators. Our course offers a mix of creative, technical and analytical modules, with a wide range of optionality allowing you to tailor the course to match your passions and ambitions. In so doing, we offer a range of assessments to suit a variety of learning styles and skills. There are opportunities to examine a range of contemporary phenomena, from YouTube fans to gaming cultures, thinking about their social, economic and political contexts. You will also make and create your own news broadcasts, podcasts and radio shows, magazine and newspaper reports in our industry standard facilities.

Your future Media Studies graduates are among the most employable graduates today. You will not just learn about industry practices in operation today, but rather be given the foundation and skills for successful careers for decades to come. The course will equip you with a variety of skills suited to your own ambitions, ranging from audience analytics to editing. You will also be encouraged to test these skills via work experience and work placements, including optional placement years and third year placement options.
