Electronics and computers are all around us and developments in both can have a big impact on our daily lives, this course will help you understand how electronics and computers work together.

Course length: 3yrs full-time 4yrs inc. placement yr

The aim of the course is to develop your understanding of computer systems architectures, networks, and the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is a network of physical objects (devices, vehicles, buildings etc) which are embedded with electronics, software and sensors, enabling them to collect and exchange data. We’ll look at software and hardware and how they are designed for embedded systems, as well as the principles of electronic engineering and develop the skills to be able to work in a wide range of industries.

Entry requirements: Offers will be made in the region of BBB-BBC inc. Maths A Level and one other Science or Technology subject*/DDM-DMM in Engineering** or Science or Technology plus Maths A Level/120-112***

It’s accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council. That means you could become a registered Incorporated Engineer (IEng) upon graduation. Following further study, you could also gain Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Your future In the third year you’ll be given the chance to take a year’s placement working in industry. Previous graduates from this subject area have gone on to work in a variety of roles such as, systems engineer, electronic design engineer, senior electronic engineer and senior metrology engineer, in organisations including BAE Systems, Siemens, Dyson and Bentley Motors Ltd.† †
