ACCOUNTING
Accounting and Finance has a great mix of modules from both areas, and the transition between years is very smooth. The modules I did in my first year gave me the skills to help me perform well in my final year. All my lecturers have been extremely helpful when I needed support, and I’ve found the campus is ideal for my studies as it has everything you need – lecture rooms, cafes, shops, gym and the library.

I chose Exeter due to the highly ranked Economics discipline, and Business Economics because of the flexibility it offers. You study mostly compulsory modules in the first year, however in your third year you are able to pick all your modules including some outside the Business School. I had my heart set on Exeter after visiting on an open day during my sixth form. There was an introductory lecture from David Boughey which I still remember for its high energy. I also appreciated the fact that Exeter is a campus uni where the firstyear accommodation is connected making it feel part of the university. My course has been great in terms of choosing modules to suit me, and now that I’ve received a graduate job offer from my placement employer, I can focus on finishing my degree.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
Every day at university is different, but here’s a typical day from Olya, a third-year BSc Business student studying on the Penryn Campus.
It took 30–40 mins to get ready and have breakfast, and 20 mins to get to uni. It’s so convenient that the bus stop is only three mins away from my house.
I love sports and being active. In my first year I was part ofC the Volleyball society. I try to join a new gym each year so I had a look at the different options nearby and some of them look amazing.
I had a quick catch-up with my coursemates and lecturers at a campus coffee shop, Koofi. Went to my first lecture of the day, where our employability advisor told us what this module, Practice-Based Consultancy project, will include. This year I have to consult a business of my choice, so at the lecture I learnt how to approach a business and the benefits and disadvantages of the consultancy industry. Had an hour-long break after my first lecture. Went to the Stannary, the campus canteen, to have lunch with friends. Arrived at my Small Business Management lecture. Had a chance to talk about my business idea with the other students. As I am a part of the Entrepreneurs Society committee, I had a chat with the committee after class. Started working on my presentation for the Small Business Management tutorial. Had to talk about myself, my plans and about my business idea. Once I finished my homework, I had dinner with my flatmates. We cooked together and talked about what everyone has been up to. Went to help my friend to unpack as he just moved into a new house. After, we just spent some time on their balcony, which has an amazing view. In the evening, had a chance to spend more time with my flatmates. Everyone was at home and we were happy to be back together.

Exeter is a lovely place to live. It is safe and friendly, and has loads of good restaurants and pubs. WORK EXPERIENCE OPTIONS 12 MONTH PLACEMENTS – WITH INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE
BUSINESS INTERNSHIPS AND PLACEMENTS MODULE
The ‘with Industrial Experience (WIE)’ programme is a four year degree that gives you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in your third year of study, before you then return to the Business School to complete your fourth and final year. This means you can put into practice what you learn in the first two years of your degree while in a real world business setting.
If you choose not to do the four year ‘with Industrial Experience’ programme, you can still secure valuable paid work experience with top graduate employers. Competition for these internships can be intense, so our Careers Team have designed the Business Internships and Placements module to provide guidance through seminars, online resources and one-to-one support.
Salaries vary depending on employer, but typically range from £19,000 to £23,000, although can extend from £15,000 up to £52,000. We support you every step of the way, from finding and applying for a placement through to making the most of your work experience.
HOW TO APPLY With Industrial Experience (WIE) is available on all our undergraduate programmes. You can apply through UCAS or ask to transfer onto WIE in the first term of your first year. Find out more about how to apply to all work experience options online.

STUDY ABROAD OPTIONS Your experience at the University of Exeter Business School can reach far beyond South West England and help set you apart in the graduate job market. All Business School students have the opportunity to study abroad by taking the ‘with Year Abroad’ pathway. We currently have over 60 partner universities in 26 different countries, so choosing to study abroad really does open up a world of opportunities. It is now more important than ever to demonstrate a global outlook to graduate employers. A report by Universities UK International shows that graduates who were mobile during their degree were more likely to be in a graduate level job and earn more than their non-mobile peers.
Studying abroad is a unique experience. You can immerse yourself in a new culture and a different university life. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and improve existing language skills or pick up new ones. It also allows you to broaden your perspectives, visit new places and experience new challenges all of which will be beneficial to you in the future. SHORT TERM STUDY ABROAD
If you decide to undertake a year abroad, you will study at Exeter for the first two years of your degree, study abroad for your third year, and return to Exeter for the fourth and final year of your degree.
Get a taste of studying abroad by spending two to six weeks at one of our international partner universities. These short term options can include a variety of business related activities from local company visits to cultural elements. For a select number of placements, there is the opportunity to transfer credits earned to go towards your University of Exeter degree.
WORK AND STUDY ABROAD WORLDWIDE You also have the opportunity to live, learn and work in an international context by splitting your year abroad into one semester studying, and one semester working. Examples of previous placements include PwC, EY, L’Oréal, Toyota, HSBC, and Kraft Heinz.
HOW TO APPLY Study Abroad options are available on all our undergraduate programmes. You can apply for the four year ‘with Year Abroad’ variant of your degree through UCAS, or ask to transfer onto the year abroad programme in your first year. The year abroad programmes are competitive and there is a selection process in your second year. Acceptance is dependent on satisfactory academic performance and the level of research you have undertaken into your chosen institution. Find out more online.

ADD ENTREPRENEURSHIP TO YOUR DEGREE A brand new undergraduate pathway has been launched at the University of Exeter to enable you to work towards gaining ‘with Proficiency in Entrepreneurship’ as part of your degree. Develop your entrepreneurial skills and business acumen through choosing specialist optional entrepreneurship modules. You will gain a sound platform of knowledge from which to start your own business, and an academic portfolio demonstrating your entrepreneurial insight to potential employers.
Available to students whose degrees allow them to take at least 60 credits of optional modules throughout the entirety of their degree. By completing 60 credits in entrepreneurship (four 15 credit modules), you will be able to request that ‘with Proficiency in Entrepreneurship’ be added to your degree title.

All our campuses are easily accessible from London by road and rail. Regular flights to cities including Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin and Edinburgh (1 hour), operate from Exeter airport. Newquay airport (Cornwall) flies to UK and European destinations. Bristol airport (1 hour by train from Exeter) has direct flights to 100+ destinations.
There are regular services to Truro from all major British cities, and connecting services from Truro to Penryn. The average journey time from London Paddington to Truro is just over 4 hours, and from Truro to Penryn about 15 minutes.
