A

thletics statewide had many starts and stops during the pandemic. Yet, a global crisis did not interrupt the Cubs fortitude. In the fall and winter of the 2020-21 school year our teams showed they were ready to beat a virus as well as their crosstown rivals.

Swim and Dive broke records and finished third in State finals - the highest finish in Cub history. They were crowned State Champions in 200 Medley Relay, 100 Yard Back Stroke, and 50 Yard Free Style. Ski team finished second in the Catholic High School League finals.

Here is a brief recap of our pandemic fall and winter seasons: Football battled through an unorthodox season and made it to the second round of the State Playoffs.

Hockey had an amazing season, finishing as Regional Champions and State Quarter-finalists.

Soccer had a solid season before falling short in the District semifinals.

Bowling finished the season undefeated and had two individuals qualify for States.

Cross Country finished the season strong with six individuals qualifying for Regional Finals. Tennis had a great showing this season and made it to the District finals. Basketball finished with their eighth straight district championship and eighth Catholic High School League championship in the last nine years.

Wrestling had a strong showing at regionals and had four individuals qualify for Regional finals. Spring sports are underway at The High. Look for an update on their accomplishments in the fall edition of Highlights.
